I'm in Hawaii right now and wasting time on a computer...

Ken dropped me off at the airport at 6AM I got in yesterday around 3:00PM here. I'll spare you all the boring details of my seven hour flights and long delays filled with awkwardness and falling asleep in terrible positions. I was in awe the second I stepped out of the airport. I was supposed to be coming with Alexis and her family, but I discovered Wednesday night that they had somehow sent me the wrong itinerary, which I still don't understand, and I would be in Hawaii for a day by myself. After a little freaking out I realized that I would really enjoy a mini-vacation all by myself. My hotel is right on the beach. I spent some time walking along the beach last night and then after sprucing up a bit made dinner reservations for myself at a fancy restaurant next door to eat on the patio and watch the sunset. I ate the largest shrimp I'd ever seen. The food was excellent and the cocktails were amazing. After dinner I went back to the beach for a cigarette under the stars and quickly realized that it is unsafe to leave the room here after dark. During the day the beach is peppered with families and everyone is really friendly, but at night crazy men lurk in the shadows. I swear, they have radar. Within two seconds of walking on to the beach I was approached by a man named Chino. He asked me to go to a bar with him and his brother and I declined but made small talk for a few minutes to be polite. Walking back to the hotel, he invited me to his room for some tequila. I said no and went and hid in my room for a while because I told him I was going to straight to bed. I began to crave another cigarette so I walked out to the beach again a few hours later and two boys immediately came and sat with me. One was talking about his trip, and when I asked if he was having a good time, he looked at me suggestively and said "Well, I'm trying to....". I said goodnight and started to walk to the lobby and a boy appeared out of nowhere, waving at me. I walked faster. In the lobby it seemed safe as I waited for use of the internet. I had been chatting with an older woman and random older man when I decided to head back to the room. As I walked out, the man opened the door for me telling me about his daughters my age. He walked with me for a while and then stopped and asked me back to his room for a glass of wine. I said no, and he just walked away. Incredulously, I practically jogged back to my room, only to have a guy jump out of the shadows. I shrieked and he pretended that I had scared him. It was one of the two guys from earlier on the beach. I made small talk for a few minutes as they bitched about being bored and their lack of alcohol. My lonely room felt amazing after all of this. I slept in today and then spent the afternoon lazing on the beach and swimming in absolutely perfect water. I think I might have even developed what could possibly be mistaken for a tan. I think now I'll go grab some lunch while I wait for Alexis. I'm such a sap, I miss Ken. I hate myself for being in one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen and only thinking about him.

Edit: I walked up to one of the outdoor showers to rinse off before I changed into my clothes and was disappointed to see an old man using one of them. They're set up in a circle, so you're basically showering with whoever else is there. To my relief he stepped out from under his as I stepped under one, but he stood there and watched me while making small talk and singing to me as I showered in freezing water, pretty much feeling myself up under my swim suit in a futile attempt to remove some of the sand. Jesus Christ.
