Anti-OTP: John/Alyosha (no, it's not too late!)

Jun 08, 2008 20:57

*it's late, but Alyosha finds himself unable to sleep, finds himself feeling restless and lonely for the people he loves. he cannot love a person without at once working for their benefit, even if his work will be patience and prayer -- and it did his heart good, to hear the fate of his family. but still he is uneasy, this tossing in the night, this anxiety without any name doesn't suit him; he walks out of his room, wearing his cassock, and wanders the mansion.

he is not looking for anyone, but he is perhaps looking for the impression of someone -- perhaps that's why he stops at the piano in the common room, lays his hands on the keys and plays the beginning of a piece he learned studying at the gymnasium. it's fine Russian music, by a fine Russian composer. he cannot remember the name -- not of the piece or of the composer -- and he is not very good.

but he's restless.*
