again.
haven't updated in a while.
have climbed mountains, swam lakes. i've been living people.
the ocean breathes salty. dreams of pirates and ancient mariners abound.
something trivial to occupy your time, relating to a conversation i had with
samanthapantha many years ago.
it seems there are certain omnipresent records that appear in the collection of almost everyone of a certain cultural mileu (i.e. the certain upbringing that often results in attending or having attended such institutions as edinburgh university) , like the copy of mansfield park and an f scott fitzgerald book that no one's heard of that seem to clog up the libraries of every house with shelves, whether anyone put them there or not (the books not the shelves).
this is the list of 18 that i have thus far, let me know your tally... anything below 5 is impressive, anything above 12 is worrying. and also tell me if there's any other omnipresents that i might have missed.
the bad:
david gray - white ladder
dido - no angel
travis - the man who
stereophonics - performance and cocktails
coldplay - a rush of blood to the head
norah jones - come away with me
snow patrol - final straw
keane - hopes and fears
U2 - all that you can't leave behind
the good:
jeff buckley - grace
the beatles - Sgt Pepper's lonely hearts club band
red hot chilli peppers - californication
REM - automatic for the people
the killers - hot fuss
damien rice - o
nirvana - nevermind
radiohead - the bends
alanis morissette - jagged little pill
for the record, i have 10. if you can work out what they are you get a shiny silver dollar*
(*you don't get a shiny silver dollar.)
