Hell's Bells, Trudy!!

Of course, Mad Men was as mind-blowing as usual last night.

I'm just gonna stick these thoughts all willy-nilly up here.

- So, Betty is still indulging in her childish games, constructing a scenario in which she actually can blame someone for adultery. Poor little Sally. If this show goes the way it's planned (until 1970), Sally will be 16 in the last season. I wonder what Sally will be like as she grows up, what kind of issues she's going to have. The strangest part of this episode was after Betty bribed talked to Sally, and Sally pointed out, "Mommy, you're bleeding!" and then they just cut away. Is this to signal that Betty has initiated Sally into her realm of Womanly Secrets? Idk.

- Peggy is all grown up now. I can't get over how cute her hair looks. And her new wardrobe kind of rocks. That scene between her and Roger, where he's basically, like, "Who are you??" was loltastic. But she stood her ground when the boys came and found out that she got the office. Go Peggy. That small scene where she's alone in the office, and she takes the cigarette from the secretary's desk was so lovely. Oh, and when Pete suggests that she puts up pictures of her family "or some people" (HA! Oh, Pete.) and she says she's going to decorate with mock-ups from her campaigns...

- The dynamic between Peggy and Joan changed completely in this episode, although Peggy doesn't realize it yet. But that moment of Joan sitting at Don's secretary's desk having just been raped, and Peggy asking her about when she was getting married and then going into the door of her office, and it closing between them. We see the choices that have been made, and the life options that those choices get these characters. Peggy's world is wide open before her, and Joan's is closing quickly.

- It kind of weirds me out when [Don] acts like this vulnerable golly-gee kid as [Dick]. Sure, we sometimes get glimpses in NY of how he's just barely holding his shit together (the drinking in "Marriage of Figaro" or his attempt to run away with Rachel), but to go this far with it felt a bit OOC to me. However, the scenes with the tarot cards and the waves kind of made up for it a bit. Wait till you get home, Don, and you find out that Duck has fucked up your job.

- Ok, now, there is obvy a lot of stuff wrong with Joan's relationship with the doctor. Primarily, he's a rapist. So, that's bad. Also, he doesn't see her as a viable human. Also less than good. But how did she get away with telling him she was a virgin?? Oh, Joan, darling. I'm really hoping that she and Roger have a moment in the next episode.

Okay, I think that those are all the major things I wanted to talk about. I need awhile to digest this ep, I think.

Only one more week. [bites fingernails]
