Jin is always good-looking but Kame loves (looking at) him the most when Jin is distracted. When he’s concentrating, Jin can go for the sexy look and succeed with flying colors (Kame should know, he’s been the subject of that stare for months now) but when Jin is just being himself he has a special spark.
Once, while Kame was - supervising - Jin shelf-reading, another librarian came up to him with a question about where they were moving the horror novel section. Kame answered automatically, eyes tracking Jin’s movements as the boy accidentally knocked over a book and bent over to grab it.
The other librarian hesitated before asking, timidly, “Kamenashi-kun...what are you doing?”
Kame straightened, spared the other man a glance. “Supervising.”
“Ah.” The librarian nodded for a moment. “...from behind a shelf?”
“I’m making sure he’s always on his best behavior. If Ji- Akanishi-kun knew that I was watching him, he’d act differently.” Kame thinks that since he has met Jin he’s gotten better at lying; both to others and himself.
The other librarian just smiles knowingly. “Yes, you’re right. I bet he would.”
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what he meant. Almost everyone knows that Jin likes Kame that way. Kame had probably figured it out before Jin did (because Jin is cute, but he’s not exactly subtle). But the fact remains that Jin is still too young, and it’s not like Kame is interested.
Or anything.
