One bright Sunday morning Jin rubs the magic lamp and announces happily, “Kame, we’re going to the movies tonight!”
Kame raises a sceptical eyebrow, “Does that mean you’d like me to snap my fingers and transport us to Hollywood in the blink of an eye so that you can meet all the hottest women on this planet, oh most gracious and illustrious master?” His voice is dripping with sarcasm, but it all manages to fly right over Jin’s head somehow. Jin’s special like that.
“Nah, that’s way too far away. And who needs those fake actresses anyway. We’ll just go to the local cinema.”
Kame sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose. At this rate he’ll be stuck in Jin’s company for all eternity. Well, at least Jin is nice to look at, so maybe it won’t be all bad…
“I don’t think I want to.” Kame walks (not floats since Jin has told him that it freaks him out when people or genies float about. Kame is still not sure why he indulges Jin like this. Probably because you should always try to pacify the crazy people.) into the kitchen and fills up the coffee maker. He feels that he’ll need all the caffeine he can get in order to get through this day.
Jin follows on his heels, “But Kame. Kaaaameee. Kame-chan! Why not? It’ll be fun. We’ll have ice-cream and popcorn and chocolate. It’ll be awesome.” Jin sees Kame’s unimpressed face and presses on, “I could order you back inside the bottle and just carry you with me, you know.”
Kame throws a smirk over his shoulder, “And what would the fun be in that?” Jin then proceeds to adopt a sad little look that would do any kicked puppy proud, and all Kame can do is shrug and nod his agreement.
When Jin whoops in victory and throws his open arms around Kame in a bear hug, Kame tries his best not to huff indignantly. After all he is an ancient magical being, who holds enough power in his one hand to wipeout cities and destroy nations. And yet here he is being treated like the teddy bear of some five year old kid. It is unacceptable. Simply unacceptable. (Or at least that’s what Kame tells himself, but he still hugs Jin back and he still buries his face in the skin of Jin’s neck for a moment too long.)
They are already at the door, when Jin skids to a halt and grabs Kame’s wrist, “Wait. You can’t go.”
“Why?”
“You can’t go out into the public dressed like that! What might people think?”
Before Kame can really do anything, Jin is already dragging him into his bedroom and throwing open his closet door.
“Don’t worry, Kame-chan. I’ll find something good for you to wear.” Somehow Kame is not reassured by this statement at all.
Jin grabs armfuls of clothing from his closet and holds each one of them up to see if they match Kame’s eyes or Kame’s hair or Kame’s something else. When Kame sees the way Jin’s eyes light up with excitement, he doesn’t tell Jin that all he had to do was snap his fingers and he would’ve been dressed in any designer outfit he wanted. All Kame does is roll his eyes and smile indulgently.
When Kame starts stripping out of his ‘traditional genie attire’ (as Jin likes to call it), Jin doesn’t leave the room, but instead watches Kame with a strange look in his eyes. Later on Jin helps Kame put his shirt on, holding it out for Kame to push his arms through the sleeves and then sliding it over his shoulders. Jin then steps in front of Kame and smoothes the soft material of the shirt down Kame’s chest. His hands linger on Kame’s waist, thumbs rubbing at the warm skin of his lower back unconsciously. Even though he could, Kame doesn’t stop him.
