"So. What am I doing here?"
"Alibi."
"What?"
Jin pays him little heed as he moves pass the coat rack and down the corridor. He leads Pi into the living room and gestures towards the mess piling on the coffee table. "We're going to start from episode 180. That's everything you need to know for the past 179 episodes of Z and 153 of Dragon Ball. Read them. Catch up. I'm going to take a shower."
And leaves.
He returns to find Pi sprawled out on the sofa, skimming the stick figure doodles on margins of each page and flipping through channels. Jin stalks forward. He snatches the remote from his hand and switches off the TV set.
"Hey, what's your problem? I was watching that."
"How far did you get?"
"What?"
Jin clicks his tongue impatiently. "How far? Which notebook are you on?"
"I don't know?" And flips back to the front cover. "The green one, I guess?"
"Just? Fine." Jin flops beside Pi, pushing his feet off the seat. He fixes his eye on the TV. "When does Goku first meet Chi Chi?"
"What?"
"When does Goku-"
"I heard you. Shit. How the fuck should I know?"
Jin continues tinkering with the remote and doesn't spare Pi with much of a second glance. The DVD player finally hums to life.

Pi's hand is already reaching out for the remote. But Jin places it on the side table, further from Pi and closer to him. He ignores the hisses. They sound like the kinds of noise Ueda's dogs made at Koki when they were over.
"Jin, you fucker. What the hell is going on?"
"Doesn't matter. We're going to start at 180 and maybe we can get through until 192 by midnight, if we squeeze in 3 per hour."
"Why are we watching Dragon Ball anyway? I've got a-"
"Hey," Jin sudden remembers.
"What?"
"Have you already posted on your J-web today?"
"Yeah? Like 5 hours ago."
"Doesn't matter then. We can do it in the morning." And presses play.
