"'Night," Jin says, coming out of the bathroom with his toothbrush still in hand as Kame shifts on the couch underneath a pile of blankets.
"'Night," Kame says, and watches as Jin's figure recedes into the darkness. After that one strange moment, things changed, and suddenly Jin didn't seem capable of looking him in the eye again. There were single, startled moments when Jin would laugh suddenly at something Kame had said and meet his gaze, eyes scrunched up happily, and then it would pass and Jin would glance over at the side while they spoke.
Kame thinks he knows why, and there's a sudden clench in his stomach, part-fear, part-exhiliration, part-something else he can't admit to right now. He thinks about the upcoming morning and feels dread and anticipation mixing. He'll make pancakes, he'll fix the batter himself and throw out Jin's stale ready-to-go mix while Jin's still sleeping, he'll lay them out on a plate and set the table and then he'll carefully figure out how he's going to kiss and touch and fuck Jin without making their relationship as awkward as it suddenly is, right now. They didn't even meet eyes in the bathroom while brushing their teeth, and god, they used to make faces at each other when they were younger, scrunching up their faces and baring their foamy teeth until someone laughed (usually Jin) or choked (always Jin). Things changed quickly, so Kame would have to act quickly. He falls asleep formulating his plan, with the vague notion of grabbing a pen and paper to write things down on lulling him to sleep.

"Oi. Kame. Kamenashi Kazuya."
Through a fog of sleep Kame hears Jin's voice and ignores it, ignores the knee bumping into his side in the vain effort to make him move over. Jin exhales impatiently and lifts Kame's legs out of the way, then sits down and sets them over his lap. Kame hears the click of the remote and the answering noise from the t.v., and then there's anime noises, violent and exaggerated. Jin at least clicks down the volume a little, his gesture of courtesy for the day.
Kame shifts subtly, just enough so that when he opens his eyes a slit he can watch Jin. They sit peacefully for a few moments until the commercials come on and Jin glances at him, sharp and knowing.
"Still sleepy?" Jin asks, and Kame opens his eyes all the way. No use in pretending now.
"Tired, yeah," Kame mumbles. His voice is sleep-scratchy, and Jin smiles lopsidedly, reaches a hand out to tickle at Kame's abs.
"Wake up. You were supposed to make me breakfast."
"What?" Kame asks, startled. Jin slants him a look, eyes wide at the suddenly panicked expression on Kame's face.
"Chill," Jin says in English, and Kame doesn't have the opportunity to tell him to stop that before Jin says, "you always make me breakfast. Right?" He's frowning a little, uncertain again. Like he's not quite sure if that's changed, too.
"No, I do, I do," Kame reassures him automatically and then stops, gives Jin an exasperated look. "Taking me for granted, ne?"
"No," Jin says, waving his hands in a distinctly negative motion, grinning, "just reminding you. Being helpful, ne?" He teases back, and shoves a little at Kame's legs. "Go, go, go!"
Kame rolls his eyes and forces himself to leave the unruly cocoon of his blankets, making his way into the kitchen. He can feel Jin watching him as he walks around slowly, still sleepy, and gathers up utensils and ingredients. Kame suddenly remembers the plan, and snorts, running a hand through his hair and freezing for a moment until he realizes he hasn't gotten the flour all over himself yet, it's still safe.

"You okay?"
"Yeah," Kame says, almost before Jin is able to finish the question, focusing on the batter. When did their roles change? "Still tired."
"Mm. Poor baby." Jin smirks. "I'll eat your pancakes, too, so you don't have to waste time. You can go back to sleep after making them."
"Ehhh," Kame sing-songs, "thank you so much, Jin, you're a great friend!" Jin laughs and pushes off the counter to pad back into the living room. Kame stirs in time with his pounding heartbeat and the batter is ready in no time.

Kame hands Jin his plate and thinks in the back of his mind that this is exactly when the main actor leans forward for a kiss and admits his love; the heroine smiles and blushes and accepts him, of course, after a long plot of struggle and angst. Kame and Jin have got that last part down, but Kame makes a face without realizing it - Jin is his friend, and Kame wants more but it's still weird to think of doing anything remotely romantic with the guy he's had pillow fights with. Jin laughs at him and Kame blinks, surprised.
"Why is your face so ugly?" Jin asks, and okay, probably not the best impression to make when Kame's about to make a love confession here, so Kame makes a noise of protest that Jin ignores. "Is the food that bad?" He takes the plate and sits down at the table anyway, digging in. "Mmmm." Jin looks strangely appealing while eating, and Kame wants to try that thing he sees in the movies - he wants to bite down on a strawberry and kiss Jin until Jin licks the strawberry out of his mouth and bites it too. Kame shivers, his neck and ears heat up, and he stares at Jin's mouth.
Jin finishes his plate while Kame doesn't touch his at all, and Kame just smirks at him, hands the plate over when Jin looks at him expectantly. He doesn't quite expect to feel the catch in his throat when Jin smiles at him.

"Can't you do anything on your own, Akanishi?"
"Well," Jin says, turning to Kame with a mischievous look on his face, "there is-"
"Nevermind," Kame interrupts loudly, laughing and bumping his side against Jin's so that the latter says ow, you bony little- and makes Kame laugh harder. "Pervert."
"Oh, I'm the pervert? Me?" Jin laughs, eyes wide and incredulous, "you're the one signing autographs naked. Naked," Jin emphasizes loudly when Kame tries to retort. "Naked."
"Whatever." Kame goes back to drying dishes, putting the last one in the sink and pausing for a moment as Jin washes his hands. While he's distracted Kame makes to turn away and at the last moment moves back, fingertips colliding with Jin's collarbones to make him shriek and jump away. Kame can't stop laughing, almost gasping for air.
"Not funny!" Jin declares, voice still high-pitched and shaky from the surprise attack. "You-"
"Your face," Kame interrupts, still laughing, "your face!" Kame bursts into a peal of laughter again, and Jin just stands there, hands lifting his shirt high over his collarbones, watching him, fighting the amusement to maintain an unimpressed expression.
"I hate you," Jin says clearly over Kame's laughter, which does not help, and Kame has to hold the counter for support. When he looks over again, Jin's a little closer, looking less put out now. Jin makes a move and his arms seem to be gravitating towards Kame so he automatically tries to shield his sides in case Jin goes for revenge but instead Jin just leans in, tucks the heel of his palm underneath Kame's chin and kisses him. Kame should've known it wouldn't be hesitant; when Jin does things, it's with confidence, and Jin's mouth is firm against his, Jin's other hand slides to Kame's hip and moves them close to the sink again. Kame's grateful for the support, because Jin's lips are parting and Kame vaguely understands that it's his tongue that's swiping Jin's lip right now, meeting Jin's tongue, causing Jin to make that noise in the back of his throat, and Kame feels Jin leaning more of his weight against Kame; the thought of making Akanishi Jin's knees weak is astounding, and Kame can't help but smile and let Jin nip at his mouth.
"You wanted to do that, right?" Jin asks, breath spilling excitedly over Kame's wet mouth when they pull apart. Kame barely registers the question, more in favor of pulling Jin in closer and kissing him again, wanting Jin's tongue licking into his mouth again. Jin pulls away slightly but darts back in repeatedly for small, sweet kisses. "Right?"
"Mm," Kame says contentedly, trying to catch Jin and deepen the kiss, his fingers urging and insistent, low on Jin's back, and when he slides his hands lower Jin flushes and smirks, slow and sexy.
"Taking that as a 'yes,'" Jin says against Kame's mouth, and Kame says yes and feels like he's on top of the world when he gets to part Jin's lips with his tongue again.

Jin's response is to blow a raspberry into Kame's stomach, where his face is smushed, and Kame squirms and laughs, twists his fingers in Jin's hair and tugs up until Jin obediently follows to kiss Kame. He resists when Kame puts a hand on Jin's shoulder and shoves, trying to get him on his back again, and when Jin pushes back his hand wraps around a forming bruise on Kame's shoulder, from before and just the memory of it fills Kame with shivery energy. He slides his leg over Jin's and manages to roll him over this time, Jin looking up at him with a narrowed gaze: competitive, determined, and straight into Kame's eyes.
"This isn't over, Kamenashi," Jin says, voice low and hoarse; Kame doesn't resist the pleased shudder and stretches for the condoms and the embarrasing tube on the nightstand, one hand restraining on Jin's hip. Jin feels comfortable underneath him, all warm skin and forgiving muscle when Kame touches. When Kame settles back between Jin's legs, arms on either side of Jin's body and leaning forward for a kiss, Jin meets his gaze defiantly and smiles, just a little, a startling combination that makes Kame pause right before Jin's mouth.
"What?"
"I like you," Jin says, and his hand presses down on Kame's neck to make him lower that last inch, until Kame's surprised 'o' meets Jin's smile. Jin keeps him there until Kame reluctantly lets Jin kiss him happily with his released nervous energy, fingertips digging bruises into Kame's back. Kame's still in surprise, but pleased; victorious, even. Like those weeks - months? of pretend-awkward glances away from each other were maybe not so pretend, maybe just - shy, and, well, awkward. Kame presses in closer and Jin makes a low, pleased sound, kissing Kame until he feels dizzy from everything.
"I like you too," Kame says lamely when they break apart, and Jin laughs in his face when Kame's voice goes weak and cracks a little. Kame just stays there, expression chagrined and a little amused, a little ticked off that Jin's still laughing. "Okay, okay, I get it," Kame finally says, and Jin keeps snickering at him even when Kame's tongue is sliding up his cheek. It helps somehow, knowing that Jin will make fun of him for this for weeks; even something like this isn't that sacred. It takes the awkwardness away when Jin laughs at him, at them, and the way Jin smiles afterward, sated with lingering happiness, is worth the embarrassment.
