So this weekend, I have been dogsitting for my boss WHICH IS FREAKY BECAUSE UGH, I CANNOT HANDLE THIS MUCH RESPONSIBILITY. If it was just like housesitting, okay, I'm sure I'd be okay. well, maybe not, i find ways to fuck things up SO EASILY. But being responsible for another living being? SO MUCH WORRY. Especially since our puppies at home, I do not really do much. Sure they stay in my room, but neither dog is mine. They belong to my sisters so the most I ever do is refill their water when I notice that it's finished. That said, it's been going pretty well. Been getting in a lot of walking, which is kind of cool. It makes me think that I should maybe walk around when I'm at home, if only because it's kind of cool exercise. I don't know if I'd walk by myself every day or just walk our puppies, but it's an idea, you know? I don't exercise at all, like ever, unless it was required aka high school gym which is probably not a good thing, so... I don't know. That said, I'm so damn LAZY when I'm at home. I get to sit in front of my laptop and DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING which is glorious so idk, we'll see.
i. Things that we've done (We being C and J who stayed over with me on the first/second night--it was allowed!): watch movies, order takeout, watch "I Found The Gown", watch a shitload of movies (repeating because I've never watched SIX MOVIES in two days), read tarot cards, walk the dog, and idk what else. It's been a blast! Let me talk about the tarot cards first. We had SO MUCH FUN. I don't know how much I believe in them, but if they're right, my future seems pretty good in regards to J. We've long since talked about moving in together, like since we were children. (I've known her since the 6th grade. Yes, that long.) And so, we asked the cards how that would work in either of our favors. In my case, it would lead to marriage (which HEY YAY!) and when we did a future love spread, my next relationship is supposedly the one that'll LEAD to that marriage. Now, the plans to move in aren't for a couple of years, so well, that means I'll be single for a little longer, but I'm okay with that. It's not like it's anything different from usual, lol. oh man do i miss kissing though. UGH. Downside though, I kept getting the Hermit card to describe me, which, well, they read me pretty well. lol Just like they read J and constantly pulled out the card that we shortnamed the "GET A JOB" card. lololol So that was pretty funny. (J is currently in her master's program.) And C just got a lot of heartbreak. Which she was devastated about. D: Here's to hoping hers weren't accurate. D:
ii. MOVIES. So as I said above, I've watched quite a bit this weekend. I watched six movies in one weekend which is not something I've done in a very long time--granted one was a rewatch, but we watched the entire thing so it counts, lol. So movies that we saw: Warm Bodies, Penelope (the rewatch), Beautiful Creatures, The Host, Seeking a Friend at the End of the World, and The Hangover 3 (I went to theaters for this one). Quick one liners (probably more because I'm me) since I'm lazy and don't feel like long reviews:
Warm Bodies was shockingly good. I remember thinking that, eh, it would be okay and what the fuck, a zombie fell in love and is what, becoming human again?! What is this. But Nicholas Hoult is so good at R and a lot of the movie is carried by his character's internal dialogue (which is not broken up like a zombie, aka very coherent) so it made it work SO WELL. Also, IT'S FUCKING ROMEO AND JULIET. Once J pointed that out, I was flabbergasted that I hadn't realized it to begin with. SO ENTERTAINING. R/Julie are cute, and R's zombie bff is the best best best ever. "I have zombie fingers." ♥ all over. Definitely recommended!
Beautiful Creatures was... not bad, but I wouldn't say it's great. I don't even know if I could call it good because I feel like there was a lot missing. C and I had to piece things together pretty haphazardly, and even then, I had to read wiki and tumblr to get further explanations. That said, I got invested in the story, DESPITE THE HORRENDOUS ACCENTS THAT MADE ME WANT TO KICK SOMEBODY and I was just hoping so hard for a happy ending. (what we got made me scream at the computer because, UGH UGH UGH. just why wouldn't you give me what i want, damnit?!) It's an okay watch--pick it up if you're interested, otherwise you're not missing anything.
The Host was a SURPRISING WATCH. If you know me, I abhor Twilight and thus associated with hating Stephanie Meyer and wanted to hate this so badly. (I tried reading the books, but 20 pages into the first Twilight had me screaming at Bella because she is such a horrendous human being, okay.) But, the characters in this were way more interesting, the leads were infinitely more relatable, and I actually enjoyed the relationships that developed. Honestly, I'm even surprised that I'm praising it so much. I REALLY WENT INTO THIS NOT EXPECTING TO LIKE IT, OKAY. IAN IS THE BEST FOR ME. CAN WE JUST. Also, ahahahahahahahhahaha so much making out. I approve. (yes, laughter. for good reason.)
Seeking a Friend at the End of the World was good. Except I watched it at 1am, and it's a long two hour film, and SLOW MOVING. Well, slow is a bad word, because I don't think it's the kind of slow like dragging. I want to say more like, it went through things deliberately, which made some scenes seem like they extended more than they should've. And in the early morning, was not the right movie to choose. I feel like if I hadn't been kind of exhausted and not anticipating the early morning wake-up call, I would've enjoyed it way more. But I did like it a lot--Steve Carell/Keira Knightley were surprisingly charasmatic together, and I was rooting so hard for them. I adored how their story progressed, how their characters bonded, and all of it. I JUST WISH WE HADN'T WATCHED IT AT THAT HOUR. XD
The Hangover 3 was SO ENTERTAINING. I haven't really followed The Hangover series very well (in that I only watched the first (maybe? i'm not entirely sure even though i do know all that happens) and the second this past year) so I haven't been into the hype, but it does have Bradley Cooper and Justin Bartha (ALTHOUGH NEVER EVER ENOUGH OF JUSTIN BECAUSE HE ALWAYS JUST DISAPPEARS IN THE FIRST 20 MINUTES-WHAT IS THAT SHIT) so I didn't mind watching it. C loves the series, so I accompanied her today and OH SO FUN. It's definitely different from the first two in that it doesn't have the same structure--it sticks to the present and you go through this wild chase of the guys attempting to catch Chow. It's crazy, it's ridiculous, there are parts that are just HOLY FUCK, DON'T PUSH OUT, but still good. Because it's so different from the first two, it may disappoint others, but I think it closed out the story pretty well. plus they give a little surprise after the first row of credits. "I HAVE BOOBIES!!!!"
iii. OKAY, THAT'S IT. This post is long enough so I'm cutting it here. Now i'm going to finish my second beer, eat a little more, maybe pick out another movie and walk the dog in an hour. Sounds like a good plan to me. :)
P.S. I got Beard's Papa creampuffs for the first time in a LONG TIME today and they are just as magnificent as I remember. BEST EVER.
