[#084] It's been quite the dreary week....

Sep 09, 2011 12:14

...i blame all the damn rain.

i. It's funny because Sunday/Monday, I was out and it was STEAMING HOT. And on Sunday, I'd gone to Governor's Island with friends (C, P and Sh) so we were outdoors all day. Then Tuesday, the rain hits and holy shit, it is freezing. Like proper jacket weather--and here I was without one! Wednesday was the same (maybe even colder) and so I thought I'd be prepared Thursday since it was still raining, and I wore a jacket. IT GREW TO BE SO HOT. It was annoying. I would just really like it if they would just pick one temperature and TICK WITH IT FOR MORE THAN 2 DAYS. ~_~;; I am going to get a cold.

ii. So real life activities, like I mentioned above, Governor's Island!!! I have actually never been there before but it was really easy to get to! The ferry to the island is right next to the Staten Island Ferry and it comes pretty much every half hour. The place wasn't empty but the park area we sat at had so much space. It was beautiful! *_____________* And quiet. Except for this one bell that kept going off because you were allowed to ring it whenever. ("you can ring my beeeeeeeeellllllllllll~ ring my bell.") And we lounged there for a bit, ate lunch (starving), and took some mini-walks. Then we flew a kite!!!!!! It was so easy. One of C's new kites just goes up like it's NOTHING. Granted, there wasn't much wind that day so we had to fight a little to keep it in the air sometimes (the nose-dives were epic lol). After that, it was Free Bike Sunday which means it was FREE to rent a bike! (as opposed to the usual 15 bucks for 2 hours) and well, it's on C's Day Zero list to learn how to ride a bike, so we tried. Guys, I'm the only one of the 4 who knows how to ride a bike. I AM FAIL AT TEACHING because to be honest, I was literally thrown a bike and told to pedal. It was kind of simple. And really, the whole thing about biking is knowing how to keep your balance. But C refused to bike by herself so there was always someone holding the bike with her as she pedaled. lol kind of adorable.

Sh tried at one point, but she was all gung-ho for biking on her own. We laughed so hard at one point where it was pretty obvious the bike was getting away from her when she screamed really loudly. the whole area turned to look. XDDDDDDDDDDDDD WE COLLAPSED IN LAUGHTER. obvs, we're awesome friends. ~_~;; It was funny because afterwards, she was like, "I didn't scream that loud, did I?" We were like...Yes dear, you really did. XD

God by this point, it was seriously hot and we'd run out of water, so bottles of water were bought! *______________* The most refreshing thing ever, damn. When we got back to the city, we ate at Nyonya which has the best Rotti Canais EVER. It's like the only thing I ever eat there. *_________________* I ate two for dinner while the others had some other dish. And for dessert, I got shaved ice! The Malaysian version apparently because whoa were there some interesting ingredients. This is pretty much where P and Sh were like.... What is this thing? I guess it's pretty Asian to eat shaved ice with not just syrup, but like beans, jellies and in this case, corn (which I have to admit, I even thought was bizarre). This night was brilliant though because we laughed SO HARD for some damn reason. I guess we were just really funny that night. :D

Then on Monday, I went to the Pompeii/Harry Potter exhibit with my sister. It was great! Pompeii was sad once we got to the casts of the people that had died in the eruption. THE SADDEST WAS THIS PUPPY THAT WAS PRETTY MUCH CURLED UP IN A FETAL POSITION. Apparently, it had been a guard dog and was chained to a fence, but as the ash/rock/debris started to pile up, it tried to keep its head above ground, except because it was chained, eventually it had nowhere to go. T.T That broke my heart. As for the rest, I was just amazed at how well some of these things were preserved. First of all, you saw things like wall decorations, like paintings or murals and even though bits were missing here and there, for the most part, you could see the whole picture. Or you saw little figurines where the detailing was just INTENSE. Like I honestly just couldn't believe how much they were able to recover.

As for HP, IT WAS CRAMPED. Granted, it was the last day, but man there were so many people. It was like lines to read each little thing. At one point, my sister turned to me and said, "this man's armpits smell." (she's short enough that she was face to pit. gross.) I laughed my ass off. XDD The things we saw were interesting though! I just kind of wish it'd been longer. DDDD: I would've loved to see like EVERYTHING. But I did appreciate seeing things like the Marauder's map, the Goblet of Fire, and the like. *__________* I had like mini-fangirl moments towards everything.

Other than that, I have solely been working these past three days. WHICH IS WORTH IT ONLY BECAUSE I NOW HAVE A 4 DAY WEEKEND. I'm not working again until Tuesday and I have today offffffffffff!!!! :DDDDDD So exhausted and all I have in mind for this weekend is MEDIAMEDIAMEDIA!!!! :DDD

OH! Almost forgot, In other RL news, P, C and I are planning a trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico in January/February. *__________________* THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME. Also, if things work out, I may also be going to Maine with C. (Her cousin goes to school there and I TOTALLY AM TAGGING ALONG. lol Stow-a-way~~~~ XDDD)

iii. So the past day, I was compiling this jdrama list for C. I've been having trouble trying to figure out what kind of dramas she'd like and she once said, "It's hard for me to just randomly choose an actor and guess which drama would be good." So I remembered, I follow this blog that lists what dramas air that season and it even gives a brief synopsis as well as a cast list. It sadly only started that in Fall 2008, but I thought, well, 3 years and a season isn't bad! i might go back and do the older ones though because, well, you guys know how OCD I am. Anyway, after I linked her to it, I would add below it which of the dramas listed were fully subbed (because obvs, she can't watch raw!) and lastly, I would note which ones I've seen/started/liked/hated. And when I got down to it, I realized, HOLY SHIT, I've seen a lot of dramas these past 3 years!
