...I don't usually make any semblance of new year resolutions (and this is kind of late), but MAN, this should be it.
Luckily for me, I had twitter open in my tabs all through work today. If I hadn't, I would've missed the tweet from one of my New York feeds that omg, Shutter Island is having the NYC premiere of Shutter Island today at Ziegfeld Theatre. Which I remembered from when I went to go see the Harry Potter premiere before. It's only a couple of blocks from work so I, on some crazy whim, decided, okay, why not? What's the harm? and omg, wouldn't it be awesome to even catch just a glimpse of Leonardo DiCaprio? So I went after work and it was a decent amount of people--nothing like Harry Potter insanity. Even though I'd gotten there only an hour before the red carpet was supposed to start, I was still in the second row of people, so yes. nice spot. Plus I'd staked out the spot right where the door into the tent where the paparazzi were so we had a decent-ish view of who got out of their cars and rushed right in. Boring at the start. One of the people in front of me--this guy--had apparently been REALLY EXPERIENCED in going to these kinds of things because shit, he kept going on and on about the various signatures he'd gotten. Hell, he'd pretty much gotten all the cast of Catch Me If You Dare on his poster.
Anyway, time finally passed. The movie was supposed to start at 7:30 so we were all kind of waiting for the stars to come out. AND THEY DID. Like 10-15 mins before 7:30. Leo was the first and omg, he was so awesome. He signed so many signatures and it still kind of kills me that I couldn't get my notebook out in time, but FUCK, i was being so compressed by the people behind me it was ridiculous. Guys, there had been this little girl standing behind me and I was so worried about her because OHMYGOD PEOPLE ARE FUCKING RIDICULOUS. >.< Regardless, HE WALKED RIGHT BY ME. STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME TO SIGN THE GUY'S POSTER. AND I GOT A REALLY GOOD LOOK AT.... well, at the top of his head since he was signing, BUT SHIT, SO CLOSE TO ME. He was awesome in general though because apparently he walked down the entire avenue street to give signatures which was pretty awesome--and he brought his own marker. lol Scorsese came next, but he didn't really do much. I think he did something for someone a bit aways from where I was, but then rushed right inside.
LASTLY, Michelle Williams came. She looked absolutely gorgeous in this white dress and she must've been freezing, BUT SHE SIGNED AUTOGRAPHS TOO. By this point, most of the insane people who trampled on me during Leo were gone so it was much tamer. I MANAGED TO GET HER SIGNATURE. SHITSHITSHIT. omg. She is so gorgeous. She also stopped right in front of me.a ;sdlkjarkodufpiaosd And the girl in front of me managed to get a picture with her which was absolutely AMAZING. It was just kind of insane! I really wish I had brought a camera with me, but as I don't usually carry that around, it's no wonder I didn't have it ready. D: But still, I would've LOVED to have just gotten a shot of her and Leo because ;alksdjflaksjdflkj I SAW THEM IN PERSON. THEY WERE NOT THAT FAR AWAY FROM ME. I swear if I reached, I could've touched them.
You know, when I was there, it was kind of like ~ladida~ but talking about it after the fact, I'm more ;LKJSDAIOPURIDJASKFLD OHMYGODOHMYGOD. It was all sorts of awesome. I now want to just attend miscellaneous premieres at Ziegfeld Theatre in the hope of getting more signatures and possibly seeing these celebrities face to face. *_______________* SQUEE.
(Also, now following
On Location Vacations in hopes that I'll find out more about things filming in New York. OR JUST PREMIERES. I was fucking LUCKY to see the thing about Shutter Island today. Maybe it'll happen again. :D)
PS. omg, i'd almost forgotten! Right before the red carpet event, Kathy Griffin was in the passenger seat of this black car driving by. She was leaning out the window, FILMING the crowd there for the premiere. IDK if it was a cell phone vid or her camera or what, but we all kind of whooped and loled. Totally awesome.
