So, before writing my second paper, I ended up watching the last episode of How I Met Your Mother and loving it. I'm just glad I never saw the promos for this because that thing gave away most of the episodes. Plus, I read around and apparently those who saw it were a little disappointed by the episode. Glad I came into it with a fresh mind because OMG, SO ENJOYED IT. *___________________* And unpredictably, the Barney/Robin parts were my favorite. a;ldskfjaslkdjf Been rooting for those two the whole season and well... :D
Barney: Now a good time to chat?
Ted: No.
Barney: So what do you think of Robin?
Barney: Say you and I went suit shopping and you happened upon a beautiful suit. A beautiful Canadian suit. Double-breasted. Mmmm. You try it on, but it's not exactly the right fit for you, so you put it back. Then I try it on. I don't really wanna take the same suit you had your eye on, but at the same time, I really like that suit.
Ted: Buy the suit, Barney. You clearly care about it. Tell the suit how you feel.
Barney: Okay. But Ted, remember that that was your answer because *taps Ted* the suit is Robin.
Barney: I know. *makes explosion sounds*
Barney: Right?
Ted: I'm with you, buddy.
Barney: You are now. Because I explained it to you.
Ted: What are you--Don't--
[I love how far Ted's come. Remember when Ted "dumped" Barney because of him sleeping with Robin? For him to be so accepting just makes me go AWWW. BFFs. ♥ And that Barney even explained--although Ted probably already understood his really obvious analogy--is also a big step because lol, it would be just like him to just leave the answer there without explicitly having gone "the suit is Robin."
Also, I just like Barney's explosion thing. XD]
Barney: Listen, Robin. There's something I have to tell you.
Robin: Wait, before you do, I-I have to tell you something first.
Barney: What is it?
Robin: I think I'm in love with you.
[I totally didn't include the "rejection" scene because... it totally makes me cringe. XD BARNEY PATS HER ON THE HEAD. awkward.]
Robin: *after seeing the Ted/Barney moment* Oh crap.
Lily: He said that?
Marshall: Whoa.
Lily: Oh my God! What a tremendous, ground-breaking surprise.
Robin: How long have you known?
Lily: 8 months.
[They are so ridiculously obvious, it's not even funny. XD]
Robin: And you've kept it a secret since then? Good for you.
Marshall: Yeah! Wow! Good for you, Lily. I mean, what a bombshell, who saw that coming?
Robin: How long have you known?
Marshall: 7 months, 29 days.
Robin: Ugh, God. What am I going to do?
Lily: I don't know. What are you going to do?
[I love how invested these two are.]
Robin: I'm gonna marry Barney and have a big church wedding. And we're gonna move to some sleepy New Hampshire town and open a bed and breakfast.
Lily and Marshall: Awwwwwww~
Marshall: Really?
Robin: No! It's Barney! I mean... It's Barney, but it's Barney. I gotta tell him no.
Lily: Oh man, you're gonna break his... whatever it is that pumps that black sludge through his veins.
Robin: Crap, you're right.
[And how cute they are when they're cooing over Robin's fake plans. XD]
Robin: The first time he expresses feelings for a girl and she rejects him? Ugh. And not just any girl, I mean. *gestures towards herself* It'll destroy him.
Marshall: Okay. Well, first of all... *gestures at Robin* Eh.
[I love how first, Lily looks a little cautious--like she doesn't know what he's about to say, but when Marshall goes "Eh," look how pleased she is. XD They seriously have the cutest (and best) relationship.]
Marshall: Second of all, there is a maneuver you can try. It's high risk, but it's also high reward. For lack of a better term, I'm gonna call it... "The Mosby."
Lily: *gasp*
Robin: "The Mosby"?
Lily: Oh, she couldn't "Mosby" him.
Marshall: She could "Mosby" the crap out of him.
Robin: What's "the Mosby"?
Marshall: Robin, you remember your first date with Ted? You wanted to hop on the T-train, take a ride downtown.
Robin: I was ready to jump that turnstile.
Marshall: What changed all that?
Flashback!Ted: I think I'm in love with you.
Robin: Oh! "The Mosby"! That is genius!
[LOLOL
No, that's all.]
Robin: And, um, excuse me. *gestures self* Eh?
Marshall: Robin, I mean, you're very pretty, but you're freakishly tall and you don't believe in ghosts.
[Robin's face is pretty much, God, why'd I ask?]
Barney: So... When she said she's in love with me, she meant the opposite?
Lily: Exactly. And look how well it worked, you're back to normal.
Barney: Yes, yes I am. And it is great. It's awesome!
Barney: So Robin's not in love with me?
Lily: Nope.
Barney: Why not?
[Poor Lily. XD]
Barney: So you're in love with me?
Robin: What? Oh! Yeah, very much.
[Robin is SO BELIEVABLE. I'm surprised she didn't do the high-pitched giggle.]
Barney: Okay, you can knock it off. Lily told me.
Robin: Damnit, Lily.
Barney: I can't believe you would do that.
Robin: *sigh* It's just. Like, I care about you, Barney, and this kind of stuff. The-the emotional stuff. It's not your thing. I thought I'd save you the trouble.
Barney: Maybe I don't wanna be saved the trouble. Maybe I want the trouble. I haven't wanted the trouble in a long time, but with you, the trouble doesn't seem so... troubling. I don't know. I thought... I guess I thought you felt the same way.
Robin: Maybe I do. I don't know. I'm not exactly the biggest confronter of feelings. I mean, clearly there's something between us. Maybe my head was saying, nip it in the bud, 'cause my heart was saying something else. Look, I have feelings for you, Barney. Maybe I even love you.
Barney: Whoa. This is going pretty fast, don't you think?
Robin: What?
Barney: We have a really good friendship going. Why screw up a good thing? Friends?
Robin: Friends.
Barney: Oh my God! You just did it again! You just "Mosby"'d me!
Robin: I did not!
Barney: You did! You little minx.
[Of all the things I'd ever expected Barney to say, "you little minx" was not one of them. Not that I'm complaining or anything. lol]
Robin: Okay, you're right. I did just "Mosby" you.
Barney: Why are you so afraid of giving this a chance?
Robin: Because I am scared of how much I like you.
Barney: Whoa, this is a bad idea.
Robin: You're right, this is a mistake.
Barney: Yes. No.
[I JUST KINDA LOVED THIS ENTIRE SEQUENCE. It's a mixture of confusion and panic and all together LOL]
Robin: I love you.
Barney: Let's be friends.
Robin: Okay, friends then.
Barney: I love you.
Robin: L-Let's get married.
Barney: No, you're smothering me!
Robin: Okay, forget it!
Barney: Gah!!
Robin: Gah!!
[cue make-out]
Barney: You know, we can sort this out later.
Robin: Yeah, that sounds good.
[lol, we may not have gotten a definite answer to their relationship BUT AT LEAST ALL THE CARDS ARE ON THE TABLE NOW. And you know, they are really smart about this--playing with the idea that once you get what you want, you may not want it anymore. ...As horrible as that sounds.]
[Just that small amount of eye contact is all you need.]
As little a focus I put on Ted's storyline, I really did enjoy it although the goat thing was a little... what? It was all worth it for the little hoof mark on his head. SO FUNNY. :D But really, all I could think at the end of the episode was, OMG, I WANT NEXT SEASON HERE NOW. XDDDDDDDD i love this show so hard.
