I am sick, but continuing to produce happiness in industrial quantities. If anyone needs some, help yourself. The happy factor has been upped by my learning that Repo! The Genetic Opera is finally coming to Ottawa and that I can work my schedule at Allo Abitibi to attend a showing!
We are going to Zaphod's tonight to celebrate the New Year. The Nightclub on the Edge of the Universe has never disappointed so I'm expecting to have a blast tonight as well, with live bands and DJ's. Maybe Rob will even dance! Okay I'm being very optimistic here...
I am attempting to think up resolutions for the New Year. 2008 was a pretty good year for me, and I worked on myself a lot. I like who I am much better now, and I think I have been much happier as the year progressed than I have been in a long while. I think the last time I was this hapy was when I moved into the Art Hatch, those first few months, but I think I have become mature enough to handle change, even unwanted change, much better, and that I can keep up the happy. I want to continue in that upward direction in 2009, definitely.
I also need to set some goals concerning my art, illustrations and comics. I have always known that I needed to focus more, and now I think I should also avoid accepting commissions that stand outside what I want to specialize in. That way I will improve faster and build a more relevant portfolio. I've made a couple of sales to magazines, which is very encouraging, and even though I won't be able to pay rent solely with magazine sales, it's good exposure and it'll keep me constantly producing stuff.
And I need to plan my wedding and get married! And stay married. (I'm not expecting that last part to be problematic.) And probably get baby-ready.
Happy New Year to all of you, I hope you have fun tonight whatever you're up to, and I'll see you on the other side!
Luv,
Katoo
p.s. the black&whites turned out very good, according to my mother, who I was making them for.
