Death of a Salesman

So you know how in my last post I threatened to seriously harm anyone who said the words Death Of A Salesman in that order?

Friday night, I went to a play called "assassins" with my grandparents. There was this HUGE "intertextual reference" to death of a salesman... and I started twitching... RIGHT THERE in the second row.

It went something like this...

(the parts in brackets indicate my thoughts. ok? ok.)

Attention must be paid. That was a line from a play about a salesman (OH MY GOD it can't be!). He was a fine upstanding citizen, he just wanted to sell and make money for his family (what a relief, Willy wasn't fine or upstanding). But eventually, when he realised that his life had been an illusion, that no one knew him, he couldn't handle it (oh no!) and he killed himself (there must be millions of plays about salesmen who kill themselves). At his funeral, his wife, stood at his grave and said "attention must be paid" (OH NO!! Wait.. I don't remember that line). Now, I'm an actor, and I'm a good actor... but Willy Loman (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) is a part I'd never want to play.

There I tuned out and started hitting my sister and whispering... Death of a salesman, death of a salesman, DEATH OF A SALESMAN.

Why? Why so soon after the drama exam? That's all I can ask... just why?

I'm aware that perhaps I'm overreacting.. but.. DEATH OF A SALESMAN... on a WEEKEND!
