Trip Update
EXTREMELY short because 1) I'm running on battery; this room has NO outlets, and 2) I need sleep that I missed last night. :(
On the up side, I'm in my very own hotel room with my new 100+ pound puppy, Boo. He has food and water, and he can share the bed if he wants.
Yesterday was technically our first day on the road - left the house at about 5:00-ish EST, and made it to just short of Nashville. We should have gotten further, but I-40 is closed between Knoxville and Nashville...so we had to detour 100 miles out of our way to Chattanooga and then back up to Nashville. Went right through Murfreesboro, and didn't think to give a friend a call. I was preoccupied trying to handle a 16' moving truck plus car carrier with my puppy in my lap. It didn't work well.
So. I got lectured this morning about how awful my driving was, tried to explain that it was because of the dog in my lap, got told by AMIL that she "didn't want an argument" (she interrupted an EXPLANATION), blew up at her, and we got on the road by, I think, 9am EST. So now we're maybe a hundred miles into Oklahoma, and hopefully we'll hit Arizona by tomorrow so we can get to California on time. I'm not holding my breath though...Oklahoma's big, and we've got part of Texas too. :\ At least my driving has improved today, since the dog is in the truck he FITS in now. >< (We had to rig a ramp out of plywood so that the poor thing could get in and out without ripping his nails apart...he was bleeding for 2 days from that.)
Anyway. Sleep for me, and hopefully a post from at least Texas tomorrow.
