I have a wee blog, which no one reads, but nevertheless, I feel compelled to do the post-debate entry. Because that is what a fledgling blogger does correct? So here's my take, Poland rocks! We have their support! The closest analogy I can think of is Computer Animated Movies having my support. I support their movies. I've seen a few of them, I've never worked for them, I've never set-up an endowment for up and coming artists. But sure, I liked finding Nemo. So yeah, they have my support. Which brings something up a whole new topic so I'm done with the debate because everything that could have been said has been.
Civics 101 needs to be taken all over again. People don't seem to have a sense of what powers the various components of government actually have. Lets take two examples shall we:
1. War on Terror. Congress has set up the budget for this, beyond that, their duties are over. We've launched an invasion and there it is. Speakers in the House of Representatives have little to no control over the direction of the campaign from here on out. Yet, George Nethercutt is running ads saying he supports "stopping terrorists, not excusing them." You're running for the House guy. Tell me what you think regarding balancing the budget. What initiatives will you support/oppose that will aid in the creation of better domestic policy.
2. Abortion. We don't vote for the Supreme Court members. The president appoints them, then the Congress approves them. A lot of steps to get there and our influence is far removed, if existant at all. So voting Republican in the election for say...Governor will do nothing to help you out if you believe in banning abortion. Same goes for all you out there who want to ban Capital Punishment.
I think the irritated hamster looks an awful lot like a zombie-hamster. Go see Shaun of the Dead!
Sheesh.
