Imprisoned!

It took me three hours to get to an appointment in Littleton yesterday. I'm still irate about it. I, naturally, blame Lockheed Martin.

This summer, I decided that I might need to take my eye health into my own hands. I've been having eye problems for WAY too long, and Eye Doctor hasn't really helped... at all. So, I made the executive decision to, at the next appointment, NOT try to get new contacts that may or may not be rejected by my eyes, and just get new glasses, and assume defeat.

[I say that I was planning on assuming defeat... in REALITY-- I wanted to hear from Eye Doctor that contacts were still possible, and not to worry.]

I get into the appointment, tell Eye Doctor that I've got the usual, and he does a NEW procedure where the tears in my eyes were dyed and then monitored.

A normal person holds onto the dye for anywhere from 12-15 seconds before it is evaporated, absorbed, and/or blinked out. My eyes held the dye for just under 3 seconds.

Being normal is boring anyways.

Eye Doctor leaned back and said "Oh! Well THAT'S your problem!" [I tried not to make snide comments about the lateness of this diagnosis, but I was cranky, and I blame Lockheed Martin.]

Apparently I'm missing a key mucous layer on my eyeballs... as such, nothing's holding the moisture to my eyes OR protecting them from any sort of infection.

Eye Doctor told me that contacts were still possible, and not to worry. For a mere $117 a month, I can get eye drops that MAY OR MAY NOT rebuild this mucous layer if I take them twice an hour for the rest of my life. My contacts cost $45 a box-- for 3 pairs-- which'll last me about 3 months.

I'm not very good at math, but I'm pretty sure that that all adds up to NOT WORTH IT.

So, I'm officially imprisoned in glasses for the rest of my life.

I'm trying not to get too depressed about it.
