Prairie dogs, a relatively defenseless meal to predators, have an elaborate community set up. At each entrance into their underground network of habitat, they have a guard. This guard will make high-pitched chirruping noises when danger is near.
Why would a prairie dog not only expose itself in the dangerous open air, but then make alarm calls, therefore attracting MORE attention to its presence?
Honey bees will disembowel themselves by stinging you to keep you away from their hive.
When out of options for keeping its children away from harm, a mother hen will present itself as a sacrifice to the predator... all in hopes of saving her children.
tryptich, I don't fully understand Christ's love for us... but I guess I don't fully understand even small examples of sacrifices, either. But, it's there... and it's beautiful. Maybe we both should simply let God love us... and not try to overintellectualize it. We might lose a piece of the rumored joy.
Bahh... I'm frustrated and need a vacation. Now.
