America is an amazing place, it really is. Everytime I visit, for the few brief hours I'm there...I'm amazed. Constantly amazed. At the hustle and bustle, and the very strange characters(the Wal-Mart lady who was wearing an unfathomable amount of make up) that mingle with us dull normals. The accents, the assaulting friendliness, and the fact that everything comes in three sizes: Large, Jumbo, and Colossal. It's like whoa.
I have this thing with grocery stores--I blame it on previous eating disorders, and my new recent obsession with food. No matter where I am, what state or province or country, I have to go into a grocery store. Just to see how they differ. I was shocked to see that there was a fully functional, massive grocery store in Wal-mart. Like, IN it. Not in it as in, same parking lot. In it as in, you never left Wal-mart. It was insanity. They still had the tub of mayonnaise that was the size of my head, and they had about 24 different kinds of Pop-Tarts. 24! We have....oh, about 6. They have juices in boxes, bags, freezer tubes and even jugs. It's like a whole other world.
People are insanely friendly, or at least they are in Plattsburgh. Something that really bothered me, however, was the lack of diversity in that town. Everybody, and I do mean everybody, was white. It was the absolute strangest thing to see, and even my dad was creeped out when I pointed it out to him. Everybody was the same. It was so strange to walk down the aisles and not hear at least 4 different languages, see different skin colours, everything.
Small town.
Dad took me to General Trading Co. where I proceeded to raid the Vera Bradley section. I was disappointed that they didn't have any of the retired models, since I wanted a small duffel bag in Bees, the same pattern as my small Villager bag. Anyway, I ended up getting a Villager bag in Sherbet (see it
here) and a small duffel bag in Nantucket Red (see it
here). It's my holyfucki'mred bag. The duffel bag will double as a school bag/purse, since it's big enough for most of my books and regular schoolbags just kill my back. Oh, and Vera Bradley is going to start shipping via their website in the spring...so, take my credit cards and snap them in half. I'm begging you.
We then raided Taco Bell, and ordered an OBSCENE amount of crunch wraps to bring home. Honestly, there were more than fifty. We stuck them all in the trunk and then in the freezer downstairs, so we can have taco bell whenever we get the craving :) I also had a sundae, at Friendly's. The 5-scoop Reese's Pieces one. Five scoops. Yummy. Ate it all :)
