Dear Person Who Wrote This Secret:
Congratulations on being the perfect poster child for everything this band is campaigning against. It's people like you, my stupid friend, that prevent this very same band from growing. You place them in a cookie-cutter, labeled box along with all of your other nice, neat little labeled boxes, and you place them on your shelf while on your quest for things that break the mould. Things that are "like, so not like everything else!".
Ohhh, lookityou. You're dramatic. You're individual. You're hardcore indie because you're a fucking starving artist, and being SUCCESSFULLY indie just doesn't exist. Because apparently, that qualifies as a sell out.
You, apparently, seek for things that break the mould. Nothing can ever break the mould if you won't let it. This right here, your secret, is every damn aspect of the IGNORANT mentality that these men are fighting against. They're fighting against jaded morons like you, who are every bit a victim of record companies as the 14 year old girl in the Britney Spears t-shirt. You can take your "indie" music, and you can totally ignore the fact that MTV has you on the same brainwashing cycle as every other teenybopper out there. You can take your stereotype of the starving artist, and shove it up your judgemental and narrow-minded ass.
You think you know indie. You fail to recognize that indie isn't just one thing. It's not about the fucking days without food, spent sleeping in an 8-passenger van. It's not about scraping every last penny and trying to scavenge a meal at McDonalds because you're such a poor artist. Indie is about making the music that you choose to make, not the music you were told to make. Indie is about saying "fuck you" to the big man and going against the grain, whatever it may cost you. Indie is about getting your music out there, no matter WHAT. It's about getting your music out to everyone and anyone who wants or needs to listen to it.
That's what he meant when he said that indie is a state of mind.

Fuck you for confining them into your classic box, and not allowing them to grow. Fuck you for only having one idiotic definition of indie. Fuck you for not realizing that MTV has you by the balls, just as every other non-believing "hardcore INDIE" fan out there. Fuck you for being the exact type of person that could ruin this band.
