Willow offered her a protection spell, once. It was actually pretty much guaranteed. No weapon forged (Faith didn't get the reference, it was hard to believe sometimes that she wasn't there for all of it, some things only Sunnydale natives get) could pierce it. Really intricate work, didn't ever use energy unless it had to and it took nothing to recharge but a few hours on a treadmill every couple of months (every few hours if things got apocalyptic, but that was less often

Arrrgh, you beat me to this one! Hope daria234 is OK with getting two fills... :)
Anyway, this is great - I love the punch(and it is a punch)line at the end. Willow not letting on that she knows that Faith is hiding things from her for her own sake, and why... It's bleak, but there's warmth in there all the same.

I'm sure if *you*'re writing the second one she (I assume she) won't :)
Right -- and hiding that she's hiding. It's partly inspired by that deird1 fic where Buffy dies and the gang is keeping Willow busy and Willow knows they are and doesn't let on that she knows why they're keeping her busy, I think.... I like the idea that there is an upper limit of how functional two walking time bombs (ready to explode or implode) can be, and they both know it (or know part of it), but that it can still be better than nothing.

I love this so much!!
I love both of them knowing that someday they might need someone to kill them and turning down the protection. And Willow feeling Faith across town and having to keep her calm, and what she said to the slayers she was teaching about losing though the world moves on. And the last line was so, so perfect - I love the idea that Faith fights to survive to protect the world from that other side of Willow.

Yayy! I'm glad you like it. :) One of the most interesting things about the two of them in season seven is that they are on the balance of "someone might have to kill me" and "I need to keep doing good and not lock myself away," so I like the idea that they are trying to be that balance for each other and it's imperfect but might be okay....

Sorry about the late reply; it's been a busy couple of weeks... Anyway, hope this works for you!
The Colours Of My Life This nest was a factory of some sort, the kind they used to have in all big American cities before they all closed down and started falling apart, but in the high-contrast light of the illumination spell she'd cast a few hours earlier it looked much older. Big complex, big brick buildings, big courtyard like the old castles in Europe, except with logos painted on the walls instead of heraldic animals, and vampires instead of Japanese tourists, at least until they all got slain an hour ago. (The vampires, not the tourists.) Twelve Slayers against 20-odd vamps. It had been a pretty unfair fight, really, Willow thought as she walked over the battlesite towards the one Slayer still here, who seemed to be searching for something in the shadows
