--Cody's grandfather had died more than ten years ago but Cody still hurt, Nick understood that. He'd listen while Cody tried to talk the long-past summers back to life as long as his partner needed him to.

That just kills me.

--the jeans thing

--Nick mouthing words on his skin.

All so damn lovely. Lovely lovely lovely.

So good, but kinda sad, too. I just wanted to give Nick a hug and tell him that Cody loves him back.

He's working it out slowly, babe :) Around the same speed Cody's figuring out that Nick wont leave him.

Things were harder for the boys until they got the Riptide.

I'm glad you liked it!

Oh, totally delicious and angsty and sweet. I love how Nick is so uneasy about getting hit on, and I loved how he didn't like guys who wouldn't carry a cooler for girls, and wow, you always bring them both to life so convincingly!

The sex was hot and loving, and the emotions are so well done...Cody wanting his jacket, all panicked, but then panicked again about appearances and saying goodbye. This was such a good read--I enjoyed it very very much!

"Hey, Nick, did I tell you about the bay Granddad used to anchor in sometimes? It was always so quiet, seemed like we were the only people in the world sometimes."
"Yeah?" Nick grinned at Cody. "That sounds beautiful, man." He'd heard about the bay before, more than once, but he was ready to hear it again. Cody's grandfather had died more than ten years ago but Cody still hurt, Nick understood that. He'd listen while Cody tried to talk the long-past summers back to life as long as his partner needed him to.You know what this reminds me of? Did your grandparents ever tell a story over and over again? Or your folks? Or even your husband/wife? You listen to the story over and over again because you love them. If they are telling the story more than once, its because the story (and memory) brings them pleasure/peace/comfort. So if you love them, you don't care that they've told you that story for the umpteenth time, you're just happy that they're happy. This is what I see with Nick and Cody. Sure, Nick's heard the story before, but he ( ... )

Sure, Nick's heard the story before, but he sees how much pleasure it gives Cody to remember his grandfather. Nick loves Cody, and he wants him happy. Cody would do the same for Nick. This I know.
Totally, babe. And he so would.

I love hearing Cody share about his granddad---you can tell that he was very special to Cody, and I like hearing about him.
Excellent. There's more to hear...

Nick does not take it lightly either, he's high with it, he's flying from it, he actually stops his frantic movements and thinks about it-----they don't take what they're doing for granted. I love that.
I'm glad that came across! Thanks!

.Neither of them can say what they want or voice their fears....Nick so afraid to tell Cody how he feels and Cody so afraid that Nick will leave him.......I keep coming back for more because I know that they'll never give up on each other. They can't breathe without each other....can't function. It took them so long to realize it was safe to trust each other. It's kind of heartbreaking and adorable all at once. Thank ( ... )

This was really sweet, and you did a great job of showing how they're all wrapped up in each other, but not, cause they're still balancing that with living in the real world with other people

Lovely detailed description throughout too, particularly creating the sense of the group at the cookout with just a few words about the other people there.
