Ahhhhhh. Summer weather at LAST.
So it's nearly 11:30pm....and I'm sitting on my deck perfectly warm and thoroughly thrilled with how wonderful the weather is right now. :)
I realize I haven't left a note in quite awhile, so I shall do a brief recap. Feel free to skip ahead. lol.
The very short version is that I've been crazy busy...
I did indeed manage to 'formally' graduate (YAY) and I didn't even trip during my convocation! EXCITEMENT! :D It was a really neat event....I'll freely admit to being skeptical about it...and perhaps a tad bit bitter....I kept thinking that I hadn't 'truly' graduated because I hadn't finished my work on my honors project. It was not a pleasant feeling, but the day before the sciences ceremony was scheduled I left my desk for a bit to grab some coffee and walked past all the cap and gown stations that they were starting to set up and I just got EXCITED. It was kinda weird...not looking forward to it for so long and then suddenly feeling so giddy that I finally got that stupid little piece of paper that I had convinced myself to care so much about. ^_^;; OK OK...I do care. lol. when they actually handed it to me I seriously clutched at it....never wanted to let it go. lol. Anyhoo, the day of convocation was BITTERLY cold...I felt bad for my family. We had to wrap my poor Grandma up in so many blankets she looked like a hobo. lol. I had been warned that the whole thing would be a whirlwind...that part was def true. lol. It seems like a bit of a blur, but I can remember walking across the stage and shaking hands with people I'd never met, and I can remember a jillion pictures. lol.
Anyhoo, work has been good...if a tad boring. lol. Again....aparently I'm not so much of an office person. Last little bit I've been doing some lab work for good measure though, and I do feel good about getting back in there. Also starting to feel better about my 'skill set'...I always sorta felt that I knew very little in lab compared to some of the grad students (for example), but I'm starting to learn that I actually have a fairly good foundation thanks to some of the work I did and some of the courses I took, so that was a nice feeling. :) Fieldwork looks like it'll be starting up on Friday, so we'll see how that goes. Ron (my supervisor) has decided to keep me on through August, so I'll have work through to Sept, which will be nice, but I suspect it will be very busy...field seasons tend to be that way I think.
And my ISS stuff is nearly done! I think. lol. I've written the paper, just working on edits and re-writes and getting it up to snuff. I also have my presenation this week...EEK! lol. It's scheduled for Wednesday...as of two days ago. lol. When it rains it pours I guess. Oh well...worked on it all day today out on the deck (WHICH, by the way, I managed to get a sunburn even though I was IN THE SHADE ALL FREAKING DAY. not fair) and I'll have almost all of tomorrow to work on it too. Hopefully also will get some work done on it tonight...but went out for coffee with Aliesha at 7 and didn't get back until like 20 min ago. lol.
At any rate, I really ought to get back to that. Just felt like writing a bit about what's been doing on...cuz when I really think about it it's actually been a lot! :)
