So basically... I am no longer just a Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings fan. I am an Eragon fan.
I'd been really kind of distainful of the books since i'd heard of them because the author, Christopher Paolini, had been really arrogant and actually said that he thought he was a better author than JK Rowling. OK, #1, There's no way he could be better than JKR, and #2, You have to be pretty conceited to say that on a Harry Potter website.
But while I still hold that against him, I greatly admire his achievement with these books. Eragon and Eldest (Eldest is much much better than Eragon, btw)are really fun books to read, even if they are a lot like every other fantasy book. But Christopher adds some little things that I haven't read about before that are just fascinating. For example, the elves look and act like Native Americans and do yoga and meditation and are all very good at singing. In fact, they sing to the trees and the trees form shapes that become houses and weapons and boats, etc. That's really cool.
And there's a movie coming next year that'll be really good!!!
Christopher Paolini was also homeschooled, so there's a major appreciation point. Instead of going to college, he wrote a book. Because he didn't feel like he could benefit from college. He's 22 now, but he wrote these books when he was 15!!! That's pretty much amazing!!! Yes, so I would be his biggest fan if he hadn't been so rude about JK Rowling, because she's my hero.
Ok, that's it for now.
