The tale of the pole and the arm

I need to update livejournal more. I am really using facebook far too much at the moment >.>

So, I went to mum to take care of her. It was very much an up and down, but she wasn't doing too badly. I had however agreed to stay on longer than planned to provide a free slave support. Then Garry came and helped me put up my beloved pole. Sadly my mum has carpet in her living room and none of us thought that moving it would be a good plan. I personally thought the tension of the pole would keep it in place. Long story short - it didn't and I took a dive elbow first into the sofa frame. I thought it wasn't too bad, but over the weekend it got worse and worse, to the point where I had the arm in a sling because I just could not move it without major pain. Monday we hit the ER, in which we spent a solid 7 hours. Several very painful inspections of my arm and x-rays later it was announced that while I had bruised both muscle and nerves, the actual bone was okay. My arm got wrapped in a large bandage, I got a large amount of pills (pain killers, anti inflammatory and one for my stomach to prevent it going BOOM, while I swallow the proud Molotov cocktail of 9 pills total each day) and send home with instructions to rest the arm for a minimum of 10 days.

Garry in the mean time decided to not catch his flight, but instead stay an extra day to drive me home, as no one was sure if my arm would serve for the whole 8 hour drive back to the UK. So, we returned last Tuesday after a very long drive. Generally the drive was okay, apart from the massive rain storm we hit around London that forced us to drive at 20 to 40 miles an hour, because visibility and traction was awful.

Nothing much exciting has happened since. I have played a lot of World of Warcraft, as my arm can't handle much else at the moment, received and confirmed my unconditional offer from Brookes and generally bossed everyone around me about because I am an invalid and need lots of love and attention :-3

This evening however, I decided that enough was enough and did my exercises again. I already did some yesterday, but not much, as I was worried about doing damage to The Arm. However, today the full program was due minus pull ups (okay, but plus left hand only pull ups which are not going well >.>). HOLY HELL! Let it be known that not exercising for two weeks, no matter what the excuse, is really, really, bad for you. Currently there isn't a muscle in my body that isn't shaking. Oh, apart from my right arm, which is feeling great compared to the rest DX The mean part is that I still can't do my favourite part of my routine which involves prancing on, around and next to my beloved pole T_T I am fairly sure that my arm can't handle me swinging on it, hanging on it, pulling myself up with it, twirling with it and all the other fun things I usually do, so I am now reduced to serious ground exercises. WHERE IS THE FUN IN THAT >:-( ?!

Hopefully, after the magical 10 days are up I am able to slowly start up again with the fun stuff, but until then I need to make sure that my muscles are at least sort of still up to it >.>

The good news is that from next week on I will be back on all my usual activities: Monday - Exalted, Tuesday - D&D, Thursday I shall lead my lovely guild into ICC heroics and on the weekend we are either camping or on Tom's birthday party, depending on the weather.
