http://www.guardian.co.uk/theobserver/2012/aug/19/profile-benedict-cumberbatch-sherlock?CMP=twt_gu The man is perfectly able to
know what he is saying, Just look at the publicity he's got. Someone who is perfectly able to use an iPhone to audition from someone's kitchen and land a role does have enough of a handle on his brain functions to weigh everything said. As said int eh article I quoted, it's not actually posh-bashing, it's Cameron-bashing and BC ought to distance himself from that as best he can. Someone able to play the publicity game as much and as often as he has has all of his marbles, and knows how to use them.
it's a cover-up for moving to the states I reckon. Perhaps the negative comments from BBC folk (MoffGate spring to mind) will get him to calm down his fans as theatre audiences, a major cause of irritation to his co-workers. I think the name Ben Carlton as a stage name choice is brill, actually, and Ben Cumberbatch would be brill too. All of the comments on how BC is able to switch on and off into the role he is playing only emphasise how aware of the effect he has and he has done enough interviews by now to know how to talk to journalists. The other actors of a similar background, age and talent level have nearly zero irritation factor with the public compared with him following this. It'll result in him getting more type-cast not less, and good luck with attempting to break the studio bean counters' view of casting non-US actors as the villain. it's their national psyche.
I wish he had just been a bit less big headed the silly boy . Oh, and aren't we talking a bout more than one interview where he voiced similar opinions repeatedly, or is it just me tracing a pattern here. Actually, looking at the responses to my blog I think I am alone in the wilderness here. And all the people who had made a fuss on TV, newspaper etc etc. Heck, the man called an award winning populist TV programme "bloody disgusting" or similar in a Readers Digest interview, and RD are ultra careful about legal like that, having been in the fact checking print-verse myself. Isn't a 24/7 inbuilt crap-filter called a wiife, or did I get the idea of partnership wrong. So sad there has been no publicity to balance all this about his ongoing charity work etc to balance this, bt then what are the charities he is active in (not just research for a role). contrast Michael Sheen...
Oh yes, i'm posh too by the way, like his work (except where he doesn't fake romantic hero very well) , have been a big frog in a small pond wanting more more MORE and also have just about had enough of being told how I think by other people who have no idea about who I am. The fans are quiet unless I've missed something, I think his lack of love for them has struck a chord there. Or a raspberry. HGH deprivation side effect research relevant, do you think for explaining the moodswings? People feel that Sherlock has been insulted, you see.
As Watson would say... or indeed Mr Freeman himself
