Muzak Post of Pimping! Nu-Jazz and Trip-Hop Style.

Jan 29, 2009 22:46

As requested by 15lbpurebunny, I'm serving up a sampling of smooth beats and classy rhythm. If you dig artists like Massive Attack, Morcheeba, Koop, or Yoko Kanno, these songs will probably melt right into your heart.

So! Music anyone?

TRIP-HOP/NU-JAZZ/CHILLOUT
  • Emancipator - Periscope Up
Trip-hop instrumental that is soft and peaceful like the moments when the city slips from memory and you feel weightless beneath the stars. Simply lovely.
  • Etro Anime - Diablo
Sexy, smooth vocals and a dreamy jazz beat make this track an amazing atmospheric trip. If you're a Morcheeba fan, you'll love Etro Anime.
  • Paris Combo - Je Ne Sais Qui Fumer
Paris Combo isn't trip-hop at all. They're just awesome. Jazzy and cool like walking on the cobbled streets of Paris to see the first evening lights.
JAPANESE NU-JAZZ
  • Akiko - Lupin the Third
Japanese nu-jazz with English lyrics. God, I adore fun, soulful, and funky jazz. Akiko's voice is beautiful. Really beautiful. I've never seen the anime to which this song pays homage, but I imagine it's a blast for those of you MORE IN THE KNOW.
  • Jazzin' Park - Shine
I love love love Jazzin' Park. They are so damn catchy and happy. If Hiro and Ando went to a lounge, I'd want them to discover their WUNDERFUL feelings for each other with this song playing in the background. It would be magical.
  • Paris Match - Desert Moon
Happy and light. It lifts my spirits and makes me smile. Well crafted with the barest hint of old skool lounge that is a pleasure to listen to.
