House Premiere!

Sep 17, 2008 05:00

I've been reading reaction posts for the better part of two hours. The posts seem to fall into one of two categories, namely: That Was Epic Win, or JESUS Even Grey's Anatomy Has Nothing on This Bullshit.

I'd ask y'all to guess which camp I'm sporting membership for, but honestly, why when I can just shout about my feelings?

Tonight on House: Slash Fanfiction on my Television Screen! Or pre-slash as the case may be. And angst! Angst that was BEAUTIFUL. AND BEAUTIFULLY PAINFUL.

In summary: I am all on board for that shit, and I think it needed to enter my life sooner.

I need to establish that while I utterly, fully and completely adore the new development in House and Wilson's emotionally crippled journey to self-realization and anal sex, I understand why some folks roll their eyes, yawn, or otherwise do not feel the episode love as I have come to feel it. Basically, uh, as far as episodes go, the premiere was kind of repetitive and about a sneeze away from a clinical case of ADHD. I ADMIT IT, okay? But let's look on the bright side:

- We know for sure 13 has Huntington's!
- Which means it's NOT LUPUS.
- We've already established familiarity here, fandom!
- Cheer for the good old days!
- We know for sure House needs to talk to Wilson.
- Not 'wants to,' although that is certainly debatable the way Wilson's avoidance issues make House completely and totally fucking insane for his company
- but NEEDS TO. So says the bosslady,
- who wisely suggests that House tell Wilson how he feels.
- like, on numerous occasions.
- I GIVE THIS REPETITION A GOLD STAR. PLEASE, CUDDY, MAY I HAVE SOME MORE?
- We know for sure 13 has Huntington's.

Newsflash is most people (myself included) don't care a lot about the last (and first) point. I can't decide whether it's because we're all emotionally desensitized to her overbearing need to feel consequential or if it's because her character is really that uninteresting. But the fact remains: her side story with the potw was not very engaging, and I was never sorry to see those segments end.

Besides, who wants to watch 13 sit around self-projecting onto a leprosy patient when there is HOUSE and WILSON and their JEOPARDIZED RELATIONSHIP stewing in the next room over?

These were the moments I thoroughly enjoyed. I bank on the House/Wilson relationship. I make it my business to watch the show *for* the relationship. Anymore, it's the only reason I tune into House at all, so I was pleasantly surprised to see so much of the premiere dedicated to the fallout of their respective insecurities re: their relationship. I loved, most of all, that the episode seemed to say, "Wilson's pulling away because he loves House too much, not because he hates him."

I think, as bizarre as that distinction sounds, it's an important one, which is why I can't quite comprehend why so many folks (reportedly) cried when Wilson was frank with House about where they stand. Wilson's obviously hurting, and I don't believe for a second Wilson can distance himself from House completely, even if he believes he can will himself to do it. House is too important to his central identity. Wilson acknowledges this, you know? And I'm not going to lie: the prospect of their "break" makes me titter in delight every time I think about the lengths of fuckery House will embark on to get his man back. AND THEN WILSON WILL FINALLY ACCEPT HE IS HOUSE'S, TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY, and they will get married.

Obviously the last part is shameless fantasy, but boy howdy THEY SHOULD.

tv: house, pairing: house/wilson
