ok so I just watched iron man 3 trailer for the 6th time. the amount of the FEELS I have right now is like from here to infinity sooooo I need an outlet before I freak my friends any more. Therefore I decided to do an Trailer analysis. Yeah you heard me right. Here we go:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=5EjG-1U3wqA First cut we see tony in a new armour laying on the ground. His arc reactor is shortcutting. AGAIN. We hear him saying that he have apologies to make (considering it is after avengers I'm not sure what he is apologising for but am sure this will come in the movie plot - maybe it's some kind of epiphany)and taking his faceplate off - we can see that he is battered and broken - probably dying. (Anyone else remember similar scene from the avengers? Hurt Tony on the ground with his faceplate open? Just thought I'll mention it.)

After the logo we get a shot of tony surrounded by journalist (nothing new) but the way he is standing and walking... it is not patented Stark swagger - it looks more like a walk of somebody defeated, crushed. We hear him saying that nothing was the same since new york - honestly I would be surprised if it was. He fought with the group of heroes to stop the god and his army of aliens - if that is not an eye opener then I don't know what is. But all of his team mates have gone their own ways - tony is left alone again to fight with his own enemies, his own demons. And from what I gather there is more of them then ever (possibly because of the publicity of the whole New York battle) As Tony says "you experience things and then they're over" - his tone of voice suggests that he misses AVENGERS, he wants that part of his life to be back.
In the meantime we can see tony working on the armour - new kind of gauntlets that not only come to him without branclets but are capable of working without the rest of the suit. Clever. (I would risk and say that it is perhaps the prototype of the bleeding edge armour since you know - extremis IS in this movie)
This part actually breaks my hart: Tony can't sleep - we see him in his bedroom surrounded by parts of his armour. He is swaying on the bed - he IS tired. But he can't sleep. Maybe because he is afraid of the nightmares that come when he actually falls asleep. What they are about I wonder - could they have been caused by his jump into the space with the nuke? From what I gather the chitauri part of space is a rather nasty place - could it be another cause for ptsd for poor Tony. Or does he dreams of sth else?
Now here we get one of the important moments: tony says he have a hundret people that want to kill him - and what we see is new Iron Man armour. Foreshadowing? Maybe but from what I know of sentient suit arc he never wanted to kill tony, he wanted to protect him - yes he was violent, hurt Tony and people around him (kind of like abusive boyfriend...)but he killed himself to keep Tony alive. Well we'll see how it'll go.
Now Tony is in his workshop telling Pepper that in this criscumstances he hopes he'll be able to protect the one he can't live without. When he says so he definitely points towards Pepper. But notice that behind him stands our lovely sentient suit. Does he knows Tony refers to Pepper? Or does he think Tony talks about Iron Man? Next scene - with Pepper and Tony sleeping and Suit grabbing Pepper can suggest any of those scenarios - he either wants to 'protect' her to protect Tony or get rid of her... to protect Tony. Damn it's getting complicated.
Next thing we know the armours are getting blown up. I have feelings about this part ok? Because ARMOURS!!!
The next part marks the appearance of Rhodney (yes it is him - if you look closely there is his name painted on the suit. Beside it is still War Machine design - just repinted) in Iron Patriot Suit (yes the one that got steve/tony shippers so exited). It doesn't say anything good about Tony - Rhodney relationship in this movie since you know - Iron Patriot was kind of the bad guy. Anyway one more reason to not like rhodney (honestly he was great only in the first movie)
Next thing appearing on the screens is tony laying on the operation table. And I'm exited about this part because EXTREMIS. This is definetely this part - just look at the comic panel - close huh?

Now since Tony in the armour AND the sentient armour look the same I have no idea which one ot them attacks the plane. BUT considering that he rips it open making people fall out of it without the parachutes and then catch only ONE of them I think it is safe to say that it was in fact sentient suit attacking a plane (probably Tony's)to 'rescue' him. The fact that the person he catches can be identified as male further supports this theory.

And I'm sorry but is it Pepper in some kind of torture device? It looks like a torture device. Who is torturing her? And why? Is it one of this 'hundred' that wants tony dead? Is it Mandarin? I WANT TO KNOW!!!
AND FINALLY MANDARIN - what can I say beautiful characterisation. I was expecting a voice that would be accented (sth like yensen's) but it's good. And God the line: 'Heroes. There is no such thing' not only breaks my little sherlokian hart (don't make me into a hero John, heroes don't exist) but works beautifully with the next scene - namely the bombing of Tony's mansion.
Since we are at that I'll like to note that since tony was caught in the explosion it can't be him in the armour (at least that what I got from the trailer - it's probably terribly wrong) so when he falls to the see and is trapped there it is not Tony but sentient suit. Obviously the characters don't know that - it is suggested in the earlier scene when Pepper looks at the broken faceplate. I guess that we are again in the situation of Tony Stark being presumed dead. And this time there will be nobody looking for him.
