I wrote a litte teaser holiday ficlet for southernbangel that was posted at femslash_santa when I was being all incognito and stuff! Thought I would post it here too!

Title: Deck the Halls
Pairing: Buffy/Gwen
PG-13

Gwen came down the stairs, one hand smoothing out her dress. As a rule, she didn’t really wear dresses. They really didn’t jive with her line of work, but when she saw this one, she had to get it. It was a shimmering gold satin slip with delicate spaghetti straps and it made her feel all girly. She grinned as her other hand encountered yards of ribbon and greenery on the rail. Every inch of the house had been touched with Christmas cheer. You know, touched…or grabbed and affixed with a thousand red velvet bows…same diff. And, apparently, a few things had been added while she was in the shower. Gwen noted an ornate bowl on the table in the foyer filled with pocket-sized candy canes and a banner spelling out the word “JOY” was hanging above the entryway into the living room. Yep, the girl had been busy, Gwen mused to herself.

The sounds of Manheim Steamroller greeted her when she reached the living room. And, there was little Miss Christmas Central herself. Buffy moved around the room, her step springy and happy. The whole Christmas prep thing was a little much for Gwen, but it was all worth it to see such big smiles on her girl’s face. And, the rest of her looked amazing too. Gwen’s gaze followed the lines of Buffy’s body, dressed in a dark red, corseted top that hugged her in all the right places and a short, black skirt with a strategic slit that caused Gwen’s breath to catch slightly. God, her girl was hot.

Gwen watched Buffy rise to her toes as she attempted to hang tinsel on some of the higher branches of their tree, concentration etched on her face. After a moment, Gwen came up behind her and plucked the silvery strands from Buffy’s fingers, easily hanging them on the limbs.

“It looks beautiful, baby…magazine-cover worthy,” Gwen said as she wrapped an arm around Buffy’s waist and rested her chin on her shoulder.

Buffy scrutinized the tree, her hand naturally coming to rest on Gwen’s, squeezing it gently. “Do you think I should add more twinkle lights?”

Gwen kissed Buffy’s neck, chuckling against her skin. “That tree has twice the voltage I do. I think it’s done. Now,” she continued, pulling Buffy towards the couch, “come sit down. The best part of having a tree like this is to sit and look at it. With the appropriate “oohs” and “ahhs”, of course,” she added with a smile.

Buffy smiled back, “Don’t we have to leave for Dawn’s party soon?”

Gwen sat down and crossed her legs, “Yeah, but I think we can spare a few minutes in front of the tree.”

Buffy sat beside Gwen, resting her head on Gwen’s shoulder as Gwen’s arm came around her. After a few minutes of comfortable silence, Buffy took Gwen’s hand in hers. “I know you think this is all insane. I’ve been acting like I’ve smoked mistletoe or something. But, it’s just been so much fun to do the holidays right. You know, without the whole world-save-age.”

Gwen kissed Buffy’s forehead, “I know and believe it or not, I get it. It’s not like my Christmases were anything special. No one to spend them with and of course, there were always a lot of jobs around the holidays. It’s when everyone’s carrying around the most bank.”

Buffy tilted her head up to look at Gwen, her features soft, the light shining from the tree reflecting in her eyes. “I’m glad we’re doing this together.”

Gwen leaned down to kiss Buffy, her hand caressing Buffy’s cheek. She nibbled her lips tenderly, enjoying their softness before lightly tracing them with her tongue. Buffy deepened the kiss, sliding her tongue against Gwen’s slowly, taking her time. And, Gwen sucked on it lightly, enjoying the taste of peppermint and slid her hand up Buffy’s thigh, letting her nails drag along her skin lightly. She smiled against Buffy’s lips as she moaned softly before placing kisses along Buffy’s jaw line.

Buffy leaned her head back to give Gwen access to her neck. “You know,” she said breathily, “I think we can be a little late to the party. I mean…”She bit her lip for a second as Gwen ran her tongue along the column of her throat before scraping her teeth along the same path. “I’d hate to be the first ones there.”

Gwen slid her hand further beneath Buffy’s skirt, “Yeah, fashionably late is always better, right?” Buffy’s needy sigh was her answer when Gwen’s fingers reached their goal.
