autumn

Fall came so suddenly! I love this time of year. It was my last day of work till christmas & it was perfect weather. The path was covered in leaves (which the dogs like to play in) & I love the colours against the gorgeous indigo of a clear fall sky. This makes me excited to go home next weekend - besides the food, to go hiking at rattlesnake point including a chairlift ride up the escarpment.

The albion was weird this week. There was too much drama for my liking and I was sooo tired for some reason. It was Ricky's last night spinning, which I have a feeling will change everything. It's the end of an era really.

I've been writing in my paper journal again. Mostly stream of consciousness ramblings, like I used to. I'm sure things will come of them. I like having random weird thoughts on paper, like pondering about the phrase "spend the rest of my life" (as though your life is a currency - spent in exchange for what?), the obligation that's present once you tell someone how much you care for them (which leads to the constant comparison of everything in our lives, that we should really stop), about how the moonlight shines through my window right onto my pillow at a certain time of night (thanks to having no window coverings), and why on earth I'd be interested in what Halle Berry craves when pregnant. I also have quite the collection of quotes - so far, from Written on the Body, and Stone Butch Blues, one or two of which I've used in letters. Speaking of, I think I'm going to include one in each of my entries. It seems fitting to share them instead of keeping their importance hidden away between the covers of a book.

Scampi just played chase with me, she's so hyper. I wish I had a camera set up to take a proper video because it's so funny when she jumps like 3 feet off the ground and races away.

...and she just demonstrated that rabbits understand object permanence: I moved a poster off the floor because she was chewing the edge, and she promptly snuck back over, hopped onto the chair I put it on, and resumed her nibbling. hah.

I'm excited to get a futon. I love my attic room. Tomorrow I'm going to Strom's with Jill & Rensong for corn mazes and harvesty stuff, and then my aunt & uncle are coming to visit me & my brother. Lastnight my family came to Guelph for dinner as well, I talked them into the Cornerstone (which serves THE BEST tofu chocolate cheesecake my mouth has ever been fortunate enough to welcome). Now that I'm done work, I can go to the farmer's market again...I'm riding my bike there next Saturday to stock up on yummies. Somehow the farmer's market has become one of the most anticipated events of my weeks in Guelph.

So there was no real point to this except to celebrate the beginning of fall. I can't wait to go to the arboretum (any takers?) I'll leave you with the first quote, this one from Stone Butch Blues.

Do you know what it takes to change the world? You have to figure out what you really believe in & then find other people who feel the same way. The only thing you have to do alone is to decide what's important to you.
