Our experience with this book were certainly different! But then I am interested in the stories of the Bible, not as religious text, but more as to how they fit, or don't fit, into the archaeological evidence. And the first book I read by Pellegrino was a science fiction one, which may have made it easier for me to accept his writing style. And I really enjoyed his Unearthing Atlantis, which, obviously, goes deeper into his thoughts on Thera.

That's pretty much exactly what my husband said. :D
I got the rec from you (of course :)), and he read it right away after I bought it. He loved it and thus I put it on my list, too.
I really loved the first quarter or so, but then my dislike of non-fiction just made it a drag to finish, even though there were a lot of interesting tidbits in it.
Still, thank you a lot for recommending it - I'm happy that my husband liked it.
