Note: unfortunately, I broke my streak and went back to tumblr for 30 minutes, and now I am annoyed again. Maybe it'll serve me as a lesson. I honestly considered creating a safe-space SPN community on dw. Please tell me that one can be a sane person and an SPN fan at the same time. I'll stick to fic again for the future. Which reminds me, I did go ( Read more... )

I've now watched Elementary and finally remembered to look up your post since I'd skipped it at the time for fear of being spoiled. And I agree with what you said about pretty much everything. :)

The plot was very much a bastardization of 'the incident of the dog in the nighttime' (you might remember this one, the puzzle being why did the dog not bark while a horse was being stolen) which ACD prosaically titled "(The Adventure of) Silver Blaze" (that being the missing horse's name, and pretty much every Holmes story's title starting with 'the adventure of'); in it the horse's trainer, gone missing the same time as the horse, was found dead and later Holmes deduced that he was the one lead the horse into the moors to try and make him lame so he'd not win some race and thus the trainer's debts could be repaid, or something. Basically, if you recognize the prize horse and murder of its keeper motif you instantly think it was the keeper or keeper-figures who are the crooks; well, that's what I did anyway. :)

I can't figure out why Mycroft didn't even have some of Sherlock's blood stolen or something to test if he'd be a match for the bone marrow transplant; by all means avoid and resent your brother, but at least be sensible enough to check if the bastard might just be able to save your life.

Oh, thank you so much for coming back!

'the incident of the dog in the nighttime'

Aah, thank you! I have indeed read that one. The parts kind of resonated in my memory, but I wasn't able to put it together.

Oh yeah, good idea.

I forgot to mention one point: I chuckled at the whole "we go to great lengths to get his fingerprints" and then later they go through the *bag he left at the scene*. Lol. //)
