I'm a sociopath, do your research!

I did not like this episode half as much as the last one.

My main gripe with it was that putting the machine in totally open debug mode after it shuts down is utter bullshit. This completely kept me from going along with any of the main plot. Harold is vehement on not building any backdoors into the machine, and then we are supposed to believe he built it so it would be completely unprotected for 24 hours and sign itself over to just anyone answering a certain phone? Not happening, sorry.

The whole thing about the machine printing itself out and entering it back in *every day*? Also not happening. There would have been a better way and the way they showed it would not have worked in the time required, anyway. Also it is in total contradiction with what Harold said about the machine modifying itself and evolving to protect itself from future threats. It makes no sense.

I did love the intro, that was some kind of fourth-wall-penetrating breakdown. Loved it.

Harold being so blue-eyed about having left the machine behind like just any project. Oh, sweetie. He did learn since then.

I like Shaw. I especially liked John's confusion about what Harold told her. John was good in this ep. No surprise there.

Greer finally told John about Harold and Ordos. Nice! I know it makes little senes for Harold to have used his own name for something like that (which he stated in this ep before), but it also is a bad plot device if Greer was simply lying about the name all this time. So this is actually puzzling and I want to know where they're going with it.

Poor John, being set up by Harold. I don't even blame Harold for it - he knew John would not let Root anywhere near him, no matter how much he'd try to argue. John is way too protective of Harold for that (and for good reason).

Root did not kill Grace after all. Boo. There goes my theory (which would not have made much sense, either, I admit :)). She didn't even have to threaten her much for Harold to cave. Good thing, too. I don't think I would have responded favorably to torturing Grace.

John plants a bug on everyone he cares about. Aawwwww.

John and Carter talking - and much less hurried than last episode. I liked that. Although he did just flip her off by suggesting Beecher was more important. I can't say I like his attitude towards Carter much these days. Pity. Have you read Hold Off the Earth Awhile ? Seems like fic is all that'll fix that. *sigh*

No Fusco. Grrr.

Poor Carter being set up - although I thought he was going to kill her at first. Glad the plan was a little more involved than that.

Oh well, so I'm too much of an Artificial Intelligence afficionado to be able to believe any of this half-assed mumbo jumbo, but I am still looking forward to next week. You go, John! Make it yours.
