Glitch is a Bad Person.
After a rewatch of Part 1, I determined several things. The topic of Cain being the Hufflepuffiest Hufflepuff to ever Puff in a Huffly manner is not the main topic of this post, however! The topic, my friends, is the fact that Glitch is a bad, bad man.
Part 1 Analysis:
#1: We all know that when he's tied up in the birdcage he is manipulating the shit out of DG. What not everyone probably realizes is the fact that when DG goes and hops out of the cage? He's not demanding and calling her back for worry or safety's sake. He doesn't want her to leave him, or more importantly his control. When DG is inside that cage, Glitch has her hook line and sinker. They're forced onto equal footing almost as soon as she gets out. Glitch Did Not Like That.
#2: Glitch running after DG when she sees the Cains getting beaten to a bloody pulp. What does he do? He PROTESTS and says "This isn't your fight." Glitch had zero compulsion to help. He felt bad for them, yes, but he wouldn't have touched that situation with a fifty-foot pole. Helping people isn't high on his priority list. Admittedly getting into the situation looked incredibly stupid, but he seriously doesn't even say "those poor people" or anything. He just goes "That's life in the O.Z. these days. Tough and tougher." PART ONE GLITCH WILL NOT HELP YOU. EVER. Translation? "Life sucks, kiddo, get used to it."
#3: The whole "convict" thing. Deep down, Glitch can believe it. At least he KNOWS he's not a good person all the time?
#4: Raw. He'd have left Raw. He was hoping they'd leave Raw. It seems like the only reason he supports keeping the guy around is that what's left of that big, beautiful brain knows that Viewers are possibly the best thing since sliced bread when adventuring.
#5. "Oh hey, there's that guy that locked up Cain!" AND HE DOESN'T SOUND LIKE THAT'S A BAD THING. Not even the second time. The second time? SELF-PRESERVATION. Screw what Zero did to Cain, Glitch wants to get the hell out of Dodge.
#6. Just...all of his Truck Behavior. GLITCH IS SUCH A BRAT.
#7. "Nyaaah nyaaah na nyaaah naaaah, Cain's wrong about me being a criminal~!" He is very very spiteful and so forth.
#8. Escape and Evade the mobats. Does he go try to help DG? Raw? Cain? NOPE! He runs his ass off and fails at life. WAY TO BE, GLITCH. Way to be.
Glitch is a manipulative bastard with control issues! Glitch is a self-serving bastard! Glitch is a spiteful, bitter man obsessed with self-preservation. Is this thanks to ten years on the run with half a brain? I'd put some money on it, definitely.
Also, as I told kseda in the post on my journal, Glitch is more self-absorbed than even ZERO in Part 1, as Zero actually looks a bit sad and horrified when Lonnet gets sucked dead, whereas Part 1!Glitch would more than likely have just been all "SUCKS TO BE YOU!" Yes, pun and all.
SO! What's your opinion? Did I miss some saintly behavior from him in Part 1? And most importantly, where's this coming from - his time as Glitch, or was Ambrose always like this? Did the Sorceress torture him into such behavior? OR MAYBE DG JUST PULLS THE WORST OUT OF HIM.
And no, I won't use a different icon for this topic.
