Glitch glanced around and folded up the note, stuffing it into his pocket, taking it out hurriedly to read again, then shoving it away once more. He clasped his hands together, a lopsided smile on his lips, then he caught sight of how low the sun was in the sky and dashed into the closet to find something appropriate to dress in.
Just as the stars were beginning to wink in the sky, Glitch padded out into the garden, dressed in the nicest clothing he could find (which didn’t include matching socks, but he hoped this mystery person wouldn’t dwell on something like that). Looking around, he saw Cain and tensed before rushing at him.
“You have to go.”
Cain looked at him in bemusement and started to speak, but Glitch cut him off, taking the note from his pocket.
“No, no, you have to go. Someone is meeting me here.” He brandished the crinkled paper at the Tin Man. “See? Dancing. Dinner. Made kinda awkward by you lurking around, don’t you think?”
Cain started to laugh and Glitch gaped at him, taken aback.
“What exactly is funny about someone wanting to have a date with me?”
Cain caught Glitch’s hand as he gestured and drew him in, the other hand resting on the small of Glitch’s back.
“I’m glad you came, sweetheart.”
Glitch looked at the paper, now on the ground, then at Cain who was holding him very closely.
“You sent that note?”
“Care to dance?”
Glitch grinned.
