I thought it was Ahamo?
Which is Omaha (as in Omaha, Nebraska) backwards.

No biggie :)

The Ahamo/Omaha thing was the first coincidence I consciously noticed, other than a lot of little parallels between this and the original.

I also think of...

Azkadellia = Azkaban (from Harry Potter)

For some weird reason.

Actually, you're right. They do fit. xD I never noticed that.

You know, I think I found symbolism but I let it wander out of my mind. I should have stored away the thoughts for later. Ah well, I'll just keep looking.

Well, Azkadillia was like a prisoner of the witch.

I love Harry Potter. <3 ^_^

Cain's name doesn't make me think "cripple" so much as "Cain and Abel." Not as a direct parallel, but more along the lines of Cain traditionally being a great name for outcast/fallen types, such as a sarcastic ex-cop suffering from some serious burnout. (And Cain-and-Abel leads me to wonder about possible backstory with Zero.)

I also went straight to "Cain and Abel" and it also made me seriously consider the backstory with Zero.

Now that's an interesting thought. I remember thinking they looked kind of similar. What if Zero was Cain's brother? Might explain why Zero didn't just kill him--and vice versa.

About the Omaha thing, you don't really need to stretch it that much - the original Wizard of Oz character (and his hot air balloon) was supposed to be from Omaha.

Like kiwi_escapism said; the vast majority of the symbolism here is more like nifty little in-jokes referencing the originals.
