I added to the story and learned some new Lj html. Cool.
One man versus one thousand men.. He had all ready won..
The book that his pen had been writing in for only a few days now was besides his bed. His bed was besides the wall of a ship, which was in turn next to another ship, which was next to another.
James wasn’t close to the book but close to another man with great importance. Great importance that was not yet seen to many but it was seen by James. But this man was not just a human man. This man was not human. His size, not that much taller or heavier then James, and his hair, black while James’s was auburn, was average for a Raven man.
They walked through two black doors onto the bridge of his starship, James following him into the command center of the entire third fleet. The command center of the capital ship, so much larger then the two, but yet so much smaller then the man and James together.
“This is the first step towards what needs to be done.” Said the man in an average human tone. “For our future. Don’t you think?”
He did not turn to look at James but knew he had his ear. James knew what had to be done.
“Star Admiral.”
Small flashes of light could easily be seen in the empty space in front of the ship. A sudden blinding flash forced everyone to close their eyes for a few moments. When the light was gone and replaced again with the smaller flashes the fleet was commanded to push forward. Admiral Shel, Star Admiral of Neo Victoria’s third fleet of over 100,000 starships commanded it. Fighters sped by their carriers and fellow crewman and towards the planet that was their target, the huge condensed beams of energy following on their tails.
“Your team is in the hangar, James. Your ship is ready.”
Without looking at James the Star Admiral walked forward and sat down in his chair. James stood just long enough to see the final seconds of life as a red beam of light from the planet hit one of the neighbor star ships. It hit the ship’s protective armor and burnt through it. Before James had time to turn and walk away it began to explode from the front to its engines.
Sound was nonexistent as the fury of explosions ripped the large cruiser apart. Everything around her made minor course corrections and abandoned her. She was never there besides them.
“A last victory yell, that was followed by static, was all that remained.” James did not say it like a normal sentence but like a line in his journal that he was reading aloud.
He moved through the innards of the ship, the countless tunnels of metal twisting through countless more tunnels. She was the largest, mightiest, war ship that had ever been created by men, or Raven. James just walked through it, ignoring the time it took to create and the amount of pain it could spread. But he would be a hypocrite to talk badly of it. He was there seeking revenge. Looking for his turn to spread pain.
“Sir.”
James stopped at the title’s mention and looked at the coming woman. Into the woman’s eyes. The dark blue stared at him for a moment, a quick glint of humor he had grown to love and seek. He continued to walk and she followed at his right.
“Captain. You probably all ready know that are ship is waiting for us.”
“Yes Commander.”
“And that we have received our coordinates from Star Admiral Shel.” She continued.
“Yes Commander. He gave me full control over the coordinates and mission parameters. Ships are all ready in place to take out the headquarters and city’s shields. If we fail it doesn’t matter in the long run.” James smiled.
“May I ask why Captain?”
“We’ve done more with less. He has full faith in our abilities to complete the mission with minimum casualties and collateral damage.”
They turned the corner and entered an elevator to the bottom of the ship where decks of hangar rested. The woman swallowed and sat back against the elevator’s back wall.
“Are you scared?” she asked as the doors closed.
“Why would I be?”
“This is our last mission. Our most dangerous mission.”
She took his hand in hers and squeezed it hard. He smiled again as she pulled him closer to herself.
