He sat on the bed buttoning his uniform shirt.
She watched in silence from the floor wearing one of his shirts.
He placed the tie around his neck.
She moved between his legs taking the fabric from his hands.
He looked into her face. Sadness and trepidation replaced the soft glow of lovemaking. He took her into his arms. He realized he had taken the feel of her body against his for granted.
Her tears branded his shirt. “I promised I’d support you all the way, Wyatt.”
His heart pounded.
“I love you.”
