Title: Dreaming Together
Author: Allronix
Team: Tin Men
Length: 255 Words
Prompt: Dream (Table 6)
Warning: DG/C
Disclaimer: Characters belong to Long-Mitchell and Van Sickle, as does their Outer Zone. The universe was based on a book from L. F. Baum
Before they knew one another, most of their dreams were about the families they lost. DG would dream about a violet-eyed woman and dancing princesses. Cain would about his wife and son screaming as they were drug off to a horrible death.
In the first week that they knew one another, there was little time for sleep, much less dreams. When they did dream, those dreams were violent things full of blood and pain. They still dreamed of their families, but the visions of terror and death included their newfound companions.
When the Eclipse had passed and Oz began to live again, the nightmares weren't as frequent. Cain found he could think of how Adora lived, instead of just how she died. DG started to feel genuine affection for Galinda and Ahamo, though they weren't her parents in the way her nurture units had been.
They hadn't been prepared to dream of one another, much less dream of kisses and caresses that were far from the chaste friendship they had in waking life. During one of their many adventures in rebuilding the Outer Zone, they faced the prospect of their nightmares coming true, and a confession was made. Glitch and Raw came to their rescue, swooping in not a moment too soon.
Once back in the safety of the palace, Cain and DG could have gone back to their separate rooms and status quo. Instead, they acted on their dreams.
After exhaustion claimed them, they held each other and did not dream at all.
