"Stop being such a scaredy-cat!"
Glitch puffed up indignantly. "You can hardly - !"
DG grinned an up-to-no-good grin. "I thought you said you could swim."
" - I can, but..."
"No buts! In you go, money where your mouth is!"
"Also algae and insects, feces from fish and aquatic avian, and -" He shuddered, and wrinkled his nose. " - Leeches."
DG looked unconvinced.
"These waters are fed by mountain stream," Glitch added. "It's probably freezing, and - "
There was a dull pounding that signalled the approach of familiar boots. Cain joined them at the end of the dock. "Everything all right here?"
DG frowned, put out of her fun. "Glitch won't get in the water."
With a patient glance between his friends, Cain sized up the situation. With a much put-upon sigh, he bent at the knees, picked up a squawking, fighting armload of princess and tossed her off the end of the dock into the clear Finaquan waters. She came up sputtering and swearing to be greeted by a gale of laughter from above her.
"Better?" Cain asked Glitch.
Glitch nodded. "Much."
