Jeb was silent, letting the words sink in. A brow arched. “DG-”
“Yeah, don’t tell anyone I just said that. I sounded like a fool and a bit clichéd.”
Jeb smiled. “A bit?”
“Okay, a lot! But, you know what I mean.”
“I know what you meant, it was just the way you said it; like a line out of a bad play,” Jeb said placing his hands on her shoulders, drawing her close.
“Dammit, Jeb, I’m an artist, not a writer,” DG said with a hint of playfulness in her tone.
“Good thing.” Jeb leaned forward and kissed her.
