Update on Lin

Getting better! Never as fast as one would like to see it, but definitely, better. Still in the CCU. Still intubated. Still with the usual problems post-septic shock, but off vasopressors, on FiO2 40% with 97% O2 saturation, just starting weaning. She has an elevated ammonia, bilirubin of 2.2, mostly indirect, falling enzymes (the after effects of shock liver.) Her creatinine is 3.7 with high output renal failure (very, very likely to return to normal.)
Her intensivists, ID doctors are doing great work.

Her rejuvenated bathroom, at home, has been painted and has new doors on the shower. I showed her pictures. I even volunteered to take dancing lessons. I told her that I recorded all the U.C.L.A. basketball games and they would be waiting for her. That got a very appropriate grimace.

Becky flew in from Corte Madera and I picked her up and brought her to the hospital. She had my grandson's toy Spitfire in her purse from show and tell day..... the letter "S" at pre-school.

Many, many well wishers. She's got a long way to go, but this sure beats Tuesday morning.

Thanks for the hopes and prayers and more details and reflections will follow.
