This weekend was one of the best weekends ever!
It didn’t start out that way. Hubby and I had made plans with a friend for Friday night, but it got cancelled at the last minute. That didn’t put me in the greatest mood so I just wanted to go out and drink. (Honestly, that is SO not like me!) Hubby and I hit our fave Mexican place and I polished off almost an entire pitcher of ‘ritas on my own. Thing is, alcohol doesn’t have much of an effect on me. Don’t get me wrong, I WAS feeling much better…I just wasn’t buzzed or tipsy or anything.
So on Saturday, after sleeping in, we headed off to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. It was my office’s annual group outing thing. But we never visit that zoo anyway, so it was a nice change. We walked around a bit, chatted with some of the animals (ok, we didn't so much chat with them as make up conversations they were having with each other) and then hit the pavilion for our free lunch…not bad, actually. Walked around a bit more, caught the tram and toured around that way for a bit, grabbed some ice cream and then headed home. Since everything was free we didn’t feel obligated to stick around and ‘get our money’s worth’…lol.
After relaxing at home for a short while, we went out to dinner and then headed to Lock 3 in downtown Akron for a concert. One of my favorite Canadian bands,
Great Big Sea, was in town. I have loved these guys for years and I was thrilled when I saw they’d be in town. And there were some seriously devoted fans in the crowd…people came in from Columbus, Indiana, Michigan and, of course, Canada. For the opening act, we relaxed on a bench, but once GBS came out, we moved up…by the end of the night we were pretty much right at the stage. It was such a fun concert…we sang and danced the entire time…it was awesome! And like most Newfies, those guys have the gift of the gab and they are hilarious. I admit, the whole thing did make me a bit homesick…guess it’s a good thing we’re heading up there in just over a week.
Sunday we relaxed. We sort of needed to…we were exhausted from all the walking and dancing and excitement of Saturday! It was still a great day though, just lazing around the house. We only left to go out to dinner.
So that was my fantabulous weekend. (Oh, and when I came in to work this morning there was an email letting me know I won something at the employee raffle they held at the zoo…a mini DV digital camcorder! How cool is that?!)
