Yesterday, Dan and I went over to Williamston. We've been there before back in the summer. Out by Merindorf meats there is a swampy area and I wanted to see how it looked in the winter since I really liked the pictures I took of it before. It was still nice and since it was nearing sunset there was some good coloring. We stayed long enough to take a few pictures and went on our way to downtown. We tend to take the back ways to places and it's always nice to see the old orange farm houses. We saw a particularly large one on our way in to town. Never saw so many deer in one place before yesterday. They were everywhere!
As a side trip we decided to pass by my uncle's house since I was never really sure where it was at, just knew the road. On the way, we ran across my aunt walking their dog and were invited over. It's new for me to feel so welcome around family but I am starting to get used to it. My uncle took Dan on a trip around the property while I stayed and talked to my aunt and cousin. When it was time to leave, Dan got the OK to take me around the property. They have about 180 acres. It was very cool off-roading around the fields, I would like to visit there more often.
Only after visiting with family did we make it through the downtown. There are many old buildings in the business district. It's a very well kept downtown, it's like Mason but it covers a larger area and the buildings are taller. It's funny how we can spend so much time taking the side streets to places and not so much time on the main strip of towns we visit. I think that Dan's interest of architecture is rubbing off on me though.
I forgot to mention that earlier that day my sister and I went to the MSU Orchid show. She ended up buying 3 orchids and spotted me the money so that I could buy one for myself. I have way too many plants as is, I just can't turn them down it seems. Yet another organizational project I need to do. It was interesting to see the many different types of orchids there are. There's another show coming up in Ann Arbor in April that we might go to. This along with Spring coming up has really got me antsy about going back to college to finish my Horticulture major. Maybe soon I'll be in a spot where I can do that.
