Title: Pretend This Is Fiction
Author:
tinkertoo aka Cassie
Rating: PG in this chapter, much higher in others
Fandom: American Idol Season 7 (Alternate Universe)
Overall Pairings: David Cook/David Archuleta, David Archuleta/Danny Noriega, David Cook/Michael Johns, one-sided Jason Castro/Danny Noriega (cause I can xD), Ramiele/???
Chapter Pairings: David A/Danny
Summary: David Archuleta has always been the shy, quiet, and closeted gay kid. But when he moves to a new school, everything changes. He develops not one, but two new relationships, one with a new friend and one with his principal, who happens to already be in a relationship. When he falls for both of them, he'll have to decide which one truly is his 'one true love'.
Warnings: (not all in this chapter) Cheating, statutory rape (David A's a minor, David C definitely isn't), principal/student relationship, swearing, lots of slash aka gay sex, creepy-stalker Jason, and maybe more
Disclaimer: Pretty sure these people are actually past/current Idol contestants and not teachers/principals/students of a high school (well except David A), so this is 100% fiction. Also, title belongs to The Pink Spiders.
A/N: Finally got this one done. I don't like it very much, but the next one will definitely be better and slashy-er, you'll see why at the end of this, lol.
A/N 2: I haven't been to sleep since yesterday at like 3 pm, so yeah there could be some mistakes due to tired-ness. If you see any just let me know & I'll fix them asap.
Previous Chapters English class went rather boringly, they had to work on an essay thing and it left little time for any talking or distractions of any sort. Though it did seem like Danny was being distracted, every time David looked up he would catch the other boy staring at him, which would cause him to blush and look away. Finally, the class ended and David found himself being pulled into a hug by Danny before they parted ways for their next class. It surprised him, but for some reason he didn't push Danny away like he normally would. Well, maybe he was just already getting used to his new friends and so that's why it was okay? And no, that hug had nothing to do with why he was walking into Calculus with Ramiele smiling insanely. Really. He was just... oddly happy today.
They took their seat, and immediately Ramiele was asking questions. "So, what really happened this morning?" The question caught David off guard and he gave her a sort of weird look.
"Nothing. What do you mean, I told you I was just working on stuff."
"And I know you were lying. By the way you were acting earlier, so happy over nothing, I don't buy it. Plus, you're still acting like that, but I can see the reason why now." She had a glint in her eyes, something that David didn't recognize. But he could guess her meaning on the second sentence.
"This morning I was just in a good mood, no reason why." He hoped she'd buy it; he really didn't want to explain why spending a morning with his principal made him so happy. Really he couldn't even explain it to himself, or rather, wasn't willing to. "And.... I don't know what you mean by the reason now."
Ramiele giggled just a little. "Danny hugged you," she said simply, "and you've been beaming ever since." David blushed bright red, only giving her more ammunition. "I knew it! You like him!"
"Shh!" David blushed a deeper shade and glanced around the room, making sure no one was listening in. Thankfully, they weren't.
Ramiele giggled again. "So you do!"
"Maybe... maybe a little." David was just realizing this himself, when he realized he loved catching Danny staring at him last class. "But so? I mean, I just met him, it's not like anything's going to come from it." In his experience, nothing came from the little crushes he had on other boys. They would move on to some random cheerleader chick or that gothic rocker girl all the guys wanted, or, if they were actually gay, to some guy 5000 times better than David. It was a lost cause, just like the crush he'd already developed on Mr. Cook, that would go nowhere and neither would this.
But Ramiele seemed to be trying to hold back another fit of giggles. "What?" Then she actually did start laughing. "Seriously, what?"
Through a fit of laughter she managed to get an answer out. "Do you.... seriously... not... see it?" David shook his head, sending her into even more laughter, and he knew full well that their teacher was shooting glares their way, and about to come over at any second to shut them up. "He..." Another loud bit of laughter, it seemed there was no end, and it made David feel like a real idiot because he knew she was laughing at him. Even if he knew she didn't mean it bad or anything, he wished she would just shut up and tell him already. But, it seemed that wouldn't be happening because...
"MS. MAULBAY!" Well, that shut her up. "Mind sharing what is so funny with the rest of us?"
David could tell she was about to laugh again, but she was holding it back. "Um, no?"
"Then keep it down! One more word from either of you and you'll be forced to separate!" Well crap, now he couldn't even talk to her for the rest of class. Just great.

Calculus was finally over, and he was actually happy to get away from Ramiele, simply because he sort of didn't want to resume their earlier conversation. So, he knew it was mean, but sort of ran out of class and to choir before she had a chance to follow him. And he ended up being the second person in the room, right after Danny.
Danny looked up from his music, smiling to see David. "Hey!" he said, maybe too enthusiastically as he stood to give David another hug. Wow, David could actually get used to this. This time he hugged Danny back and he could see the other boy's face was brighter when the embrace ended.
Through the entire class, David started to see that maybe he was wrong in thinking all of his crushes went nowhere. Danny was being extra-touchy today, with just little jesters like leaving his hand over David's for maybe a second too long if they reached for the same piece of music, or 'accidently' brushing up against him a few times while they were supposed to be singing. David really didn't think he could be any happier right now.
Class ended, and David was all prepared to leave and go to his next, surely boring as heck, class. Then Danny's hand on his arm prevented him from leaving.
"Hey David, are you.. uhm... are you doing anything after school?" Woah. Did he really just ask that? Was Danny... was he going to ask him out? David's heart rose, and he shook his head.
"Uhm, no... just, going home I guess and... homework? Nothing too interesting..." 'yet.'
"Well... would you maybe... want to do something... with me? Like, a movie or anything, you can pick." And David really didn't think things could get any better than right now.
"Yeah, that'd... that'd be... great actually." Danny smiled wide and out of nowhere jumped on him in a hug, almost knocking him to the ground.
"That's great! Then I'll, uh, meet you outside after school?"
"Yeah, sounds good."
"Great. So, uhm, I'll see you then?" David nodded and Danny just smiled again, until he realized they still had one more class that day. "Crap, we should get to class, don't want to be late... again." He added the last part with a bit of a laugh, and David knew he was poking fun at him for being late earlier that day. But it didn't bug him, just made him laugh and then be grinning like a crazy person all the way to his next class.
