I went to get the bee up from her morning nap and found her sitting, contentedly, with her back against the bars of her crib chatting with her stuffed manatee. The crib is at the middle level, and it looks like we're going to be putting it all the way to the bottom tonight. Sadly that will do a number on my back. The crib sides don't open up or lower, and my height is a disadvantage when it comes to the lower setting. But ideally the bee will be able to help now that she's getting into sitting position on her own.
In other bee news:
She is crawling. A wonk-ly crawl I'll admit, but if she's anything like her mother then she's going to do things her own way for the rest of her life. It makes sense that she starts that journey now. She starts out in four point position (up on her hand and knees) but ends up using one foot to push her back side up to her front side...and she kind of shuffles along. It's extremely cute, and a little slower than the normal crawl so I can keep up to her curiosity. Wasn't it DQ who mentioned that we are only given what we can handle?
Tomorrow is the rural collective's emergency potluck meeting. I will update later, but I am feeling extremely positive about the outcome. Perhaps because I love poetry, and in the end I know that I will continue to do poetry no matter what happens. In poetry news I have had three requests for poets to come and feature out here in my small town. It's very exciting. I'm in the middle of planning two poetry and potluck shows. One for September 9th with CR Avery, and one in late October with The Fugitives. This makes me happy. This way touring artists who hit up Ottawa have a few other places they can perform before they head out of the area.
Today I am going to drive to the next town over to deposit my baby cheque, and then hit up the play group so the bee can show off her new skills. Today, life is good.
