Cleaning...

There is an undeniable satisfaction that comes with having accomplished something as simple as cleaning your fridge. Day 3 of our cleaning pact has come to a close and I feel good. We're noticeably happier, and the house is starting to look better. Giving up a half an hour of free time each night to achieve that is totally worth it.

So on Friday I have a special surprise planned for Jono's 30th birthday. I have two girls from town coming over after 6pm to sit in our basement and watch a movie while I take him to a little restaurant in a nearby town. It's just a little something, but I want to acknowledge this milestone in his life, even if he'd rather not celebrate celebrate. Yes I meant to put two celebrates there; to emphasize the larger act of celebration. I know that he'll appreciate my planning something little and special.

Meanwhile he's got some top-secret bizarro world thing going on for our anniversary, which was yesterday. All he said was it will be two weeks before I see my anniversary present (I got him a T-shirt and some crosswords, and a card with Canadian geese on it. It's the "cotton" anniversary and I'm near-broke.) and there was a strange message on the phone today from some woman at a non-Canadian number, and she called again and I told her to call him at work. He's also spending more time on the computer at night. This is why I don't really enjoy secrets...they always make it seem like your partner could be cheating on you... :) Of course that's where trust comes in...but with my novice-detective heart I am always tempted to find out what it going on...He's being exceptionally obvious and has let me know that all this has to do with the gift...but what could possibly take computer programming, an order from away and two weeks? I don't know. But it is intriguing. I like a little mystery.
