Angsty drabbles - so much fun!

I've been on a fic-writing kick (read: I haven't had anything better to do) lately, and thought I'd share a couple fairly angsty drabbles.

Fandom: LOST
Title: Freefall
Character: Kate

She’s awake, thinking back to that day when she was nine, breathlessly riding on an old wooden coaster. Half-sick and dizzy, she went again and again, looping and climbing above the cotton sky.

That night she couldn’t sleep, the phantom twists returning whenever she closed her eyes.

It’s like that now when she lies in the sand. She stares at the fire and wills it to stop, the sick lurching and drop, the blow of the plane’s final rest. The sensation jerks her awake in the dead of night.

They’ve been here two years. She’s still falling from the sky.

Fandom: LOST
Title: Relief
Character: Jack

One by one, he fails them all, avoids their pleading eyes.

Memories plague him in dreams where Boone is alive, smiling hatefully from a rotten mouth. His limbs claw and scratch, tearing Jack’s flesh until he wakes in a guilty sweat, covered in blood once again.

Water runs clear, but his hands are never clean.

One by one he buries them, skeletons beneath the sand. Those that remain are corpses themselves, watching with hollow eyes the ritual that is their fate. The graveyard expands and the living succumb, until at last he’s failed them all.

Only then he finds relief.

Fandom: The West Wing
Title: Get Him
Character: Amy

“You have to get Josh...” Donna’s unthinking defense jars her from the numbing haze.

Amy gets Josh. Or at least she thinks she does. She gets that he’s driven, confused. She gets that he’ll raise his voice with passion, but seldom anger. She gets that he needs her, in a small, pathetic way. She likes that. It’s power.

But as Donna backpedals her way out of this mess, she feels him stripped away by the blonde with the doe-shaped eyes. Suddenly it’s becoming painfully, sharply clear that she doesn’t.

Get him.

But in the end she knows - Donna will.
