The city of bridges...

SO my weekend in Pittsburg was pretty great. I met my new JS members at the airport and the two team leaders are soo nice, motivated and talented...Gillian is in her mid/late 20s and has lots of experince, and Mandi although she is young really has a lot of valuable skills to bring to the program. I just know we are going to have a great year!

Our plane got delayed leaving Philly by like an hour and a half and then we get a cab driver to take us to the hotel and he gets lost and takes us back to the airport. What luck right!! I got to room with Gillian and she is amazing. She is going to school for Elementary guidance counseling and I know she will be great at it. We got along really well.

On Friday we go down for training and see everyone else in jeans even though our papers said business casual. We then find out we are having a service morning and picking up trash. Nice of Temple to be the only school not to find that out so we all had to pick up trash in the clothes we had worn the day before...luckily we all wore jeans on the plane. Friday night it took forever to get to dinner and then by the time we got back we were too tired to do anything and we thought it was going to storm so Gillian and I just watched TV.

Saturday was SUCH a long training but I got a really great idea of my job responsibilities and I was able to do a lot of networking with other VC in my region and make some good friends/contacts for bettering Temple JS. We went to Hard Rock for dinner and as we get on the bus there is only like a seat open. It was the most amazing ride because I got to sit next to the only male Site Manager and he was GORGEOUS. His name is Michael and we have so much in common...so yeah, pretty much we're in love, lol! No but seriously he gave me good info on the Peace Corp and what not. I was saddened though when i found out he applied to be the site manager at Temple but they didnt get back to him as soon as QUNY....my heart dropped because I could have worked with the hott guy everyday, lol. Dinner was fun with my team and Gillian kept on calling Michael my boyfriend, haha. The ride back however was less exciting cuz my sat with one of the directors. The bus driver took over an hour to take us a 15 minute distance. We toured all the slums of Pittsburg and he proceeded to blame it on the reginal director for getting lost. It was hysterical.

No one wanted to go out on Saturday but I refused not to do something fun. I met up with Dover at a bar and we hung out. It was good seeing him and I got a little taste of the Pitt bar scene. Very minimal but the places seem cool enough. he was even nice and walked me back, haha.

Sunday was a long/short day and training was good again. I was just ready to get back to Philly. We had too much time after trainie to do nothing but not enough time to do anything good. So we went to the airport and did a little shopping and had dinner. By the time I got home I was exhausted. Long story short...I enjoyed my all expenses paid business trip...but now I need a vacation to recover from it!!
